So I've got this new song up called "Drone"...
It's true. Very experimental industrial metal kind of thing... probably won't be your cup of tea if you're not a distortion and rock kind of person, unless you appreciate different music all together. I promise I won't post too many of these self-promotion blogs, just wanted to get the word out since I think this is a neat tune. No words, but I like it. :) I'm currently recruiting a great guitar player from Slovenia by the name of Grega Habik to do some soloing perhaps, should be fun. The intro was done by my good friend Chico whom I have a few songs posted with on my page.
Cheers

Dude. Brilliant. Just calm down a bit. Musically.
I get the feeling you HAVE to put in some quiet parts :)
Please don't do solos - LOOK AT ME!
No ... Explore the fun of ever-changing chords... Robert Fripp or orchestral(ish) Philip Glass...
Fuck, any old bedroom teenager can do guitar solos. In crashtv we see that as a mark of no imagination plus a big ego.
Personally thinking, that's like a guitarist getting his knob out in my face. Yeah I appreciate it's impressive in the display, but might it doesn't mean anything, and I'm not really that interested.
I say that and back it up... crashtv have always hated guitar solos since the late 70's. It's an old jazz impro thing to give someone some time to nip off stage, go to the toilet, and maybe bring back some beers to the stage. As Hollywood says... "cover me!" these days they guy can't do that without 30 handshakes. And THAT is why I invented the Jazz-Bag. Yes a colostomy bag/catheter specifically for Jazz musicans.
Find me a self-seeking cello or violin solo in classical music. Anything like that - I would really love to hear a crazy tuba freeform solo hahaha :)
Anyway... there is no place for it. in certain types of music. The solo is from jazz. Pop songs are the snippets from good jazz. NIN is wonderfully BUILT, and crashtv is not one or the other, therfore the world is not spherical or flat but oblong. In 11 dimensions we reckon. No one takes us seriously.
[By the way the "solo" is totally from African unstructured music (then > blues > now) and after 6 hours someone else needs to take over... we still got 30 hours to go. I mean the original African there, not Genesis live.]
...bored typing now.

Also your art is just brilliant. I'm a designer of many many years (repro and ad agencies (saatchi's) and all sorts) and your fractions thing is brilliant :)
Brilliant idea. Superbly executed.
Superb colours, great background. Just fantastic.

Solos rule. :D As long as they come in at a perfect time in the song. I've been known to say part of the reason for writing rock songs is to give you an excuse to do a groovy solo. haha
I actually made a station up of all my favorite and personal best solos. It's one of my favorite things that I've done here at IAC.

I think we established that 65 to 70 percent was ideal for Metallic's new album. Personally I'd rather anyone left it till just after the song's finished and we aren't recording it.

crashtv- Why thank you. :) Actually I made the fractions thing. I admit I robbed the background from some random pic from the net I think, then did the fractions and colors. All my stuff is either me or some are me and my buddy Jarek who's a digital artist of sorts. Oh and cool website by the way, like the way it looks and nice pics.
Father Time- I like solos too, as long as they are tasteful and musical, and not widdly. Widdly solos are silly nonsense. Not music just notes. My Packers got killed by Dallas. I have a new found disdain for the Cowboys.

Thanks Steve. Chicos stuff is pretty unique. Like the vocals/lyrics quite a bit on Jeepers Creepers.

Hey Jesse... you are such a talent! I do have to be honest tho... this isn't my first choice of genre... but do enjoy quite a few songs that fall into this category. In fact I may start a station dedicated to music I like that's on the harder side... thank you for the inspiration. Really great song Jesse... as so many of your others! BTW... I was going to mention this before... and reminded to do so now because of this thread... you have some great, creative pics on your page... the first time I was there to listen... I just sat and watched the slide show for a minute... I didn't want to be distracted by doing something else and miss one. :-)

Butterfly raised a GREAT point -- the pics on your page are VERY artistic. I love the one where you're spewin' out a rainbow/crazy spectrum of light. Art thou the artist/photographer?

Thanks so much Butterfly. I'm very happy you enjoyed it. I like your station idea for some heavier music, that'd be cool. I think there needs to be more of it here at IAC! :) And I'm glad you and phlegm enjoy the artwork!
Phlegm, some of the pics are done by myself, some are me and my buddy Jarek who excells in Photoshop. I took all the pics myself. It's nice being at a place like IAC where people actually appreciate stuff like that.
