You ever notice we all say the same things in the shout box of stations that add our tunes?
I wonder how many of us are being genuine and how many of us are just schmoozing because we know we're supposed to?
I'm guessing the genuine to schmooze ratio is about 40/60 but that's probably being generous...

Well i always say thanks and i appreciate being added... 'cos i am.
Its kinda ungrateful not to say thanks i feel-specially if someones taken the time to do a review too..
Schmoozings more a quality that comes up here on the pipeline here i think..
I don't get involved in that..

What if you just love good music? Is it SCHMOOZING to say so? Maybe SOME people only put songs on their stations that they actually like?
Yup. That's what I like to think I do.
Unless of course y'all were talkin' from the other direction...."Thanks for the Add" is just too boring .... you should also say WHAT you DIG about that station that added you... in my opinion.
BUT, if you simply hate the station, and are just GLAD to be on another station then, WHAT? How could it be a BAD station, if it added l'il ole me! .... -pHLeGM
OH YEAH forgot to say this: I get a REAL kick out of hearing BACK from the artists that I've added to my stations. I'm a rockstar wannabe, but a true FAN-BOY supreme of GREAT Indie music !

I'm not sure I get this thread. I always say thanks in the station shout box when one of my songs gets added. How could that not be genuine? Should I say "thanks for the add, but to be honest your station sucks"?

Hey Jesse!
When I hit up a 'shout box' I am actually very sincere in my gratitude towards the artist for adding my music to their station....it's a very flattering acknowledgment of my work!! I'm also just as thankful to the artists who hit up my own 'shout box' with a little "thanks" for adding their songs, I love the feeling of connection!
By the way, your song "False Start" rocks! ;)

What to say, Chris is:
Thanks for the add! Who are the rest of these people, and why haven't you loaded all my songs yet???

I agree with all here about being thankful and appreciative in our music being added to the various streaming stations here at IACMUSIC
,
I am a genuine lover of music and passionate in my support of the artists here and have promoted many artists as well.see Voodoohead Productions I am very involved in teaching music as well at my studio's here in White Rock BC, that is my bread and butter
So my little stab there after Jesse's post was all in good fun and tongue in cheek, of course and i think you all knew that anyways
I know most everyone is really aware to show a gratefulness and are sincere with their comments once they see a song is added..........
anyways hope you have a good day and a wonderful weekend

On the flip side, I spend many hours/week, checking out the great music on IAC, and selecting music for my stations. I have 8 -10 stations in the top 300 last I looked. If you're on one of my stations, I like the song very much, and on repeated listens.
So a little "thank you" in the shout box is a recognition of the endeavor on both sides, the love of music, and a modest moment for a job well done.
I find the comraderie on IAC a big part to why I'm drawn here. I meet others who are passionate & devoted to music, that kind of dedication's rare.

What would you have us say? Personally, I'm so honored when I get on someone's station that I pretty much say just that, unless I forget to.
I have a few 'thanks' to post. Thanks for the reminder.
The more I write the word 'thanks' the weirder sounding it is. Who came up with the word 'thank' anyway? Sounds more like the sound of a board landing on the floor after a fall.

Sheesh... just one of my random thoughts late at night... why are some of you taking it as personal criticism, hmmm?
I like Petra's response, she was cool about it, she got it.
It's something to talk about people. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. I mean, golly gee god forbid someone question the authenticity of some folks cuz I know from ALL my experiences in life that ALL people are true and pure and good. Yeah.

I sorta agree with Steve A---we add lots of songs to our 14 stations and get some thanks---it doesn't make any difference--- but it's cool when humanity is expressed!! ie I was tought to say thanks
On the other hand
ewe always get a different message when ewe add a silverwoodstudio song--
we have 22,000 different responses on a sheet of A4, by the computer!

We are totally insincere and pay (if it can be called that) several poverty-stricken third world children to write things in the relevant shout boxes, should we be added to a station. If what they write is not to our liking, they are punished by having to listen to the religious stations for six months non stop.

I try to be curtious and say thank you. It's fun to comment according to the theme of the station page too. IF I write a comment by a song I loaded, I meant it. I also put the songs according to how I like them, but also try to arrange a balanced mix.
A couple of my stations don't have shout boxes. I don't expect them to move up or down the "charts", I just like to listen to them.

Yeah! Thanks for chimin' in here Reverse - alwayz good for the lighter side of IAC. Heee haaa ha...
I gotta say the point made by Larree and others about NOT doin' those MASS shouts is a good thing.... Seems like all who responded to Jesse's post here are the kind that take the time for a fairly heartfelt & unique shout for their station adds....
jesse, I think it's pretty cool that our shouts are often compatible from artist to artist it shows we're kinda on the same wavelength...
Anyway, I thought this was a pretty cool post idea; if you read what I said up in there, you'll see that it's tongue & cheek & fairly positive. Hope you didn't take it as whiney or defensive!
Sigh. Anyhoo.... ROCK on Jesse & all y'all !
