I've sold out. (UPDATE!)
Cuz I wrote a love song you see. Wait, don't you have to make lots of money in order to sell out? Crap. Maybe I'm just in love. Whatever the case may be, this is my first ever "love song". I suppose crazier things have happened. Hope you like it.

When a musician writes stuff like that, it means somethin'. When she's something special, it's all good.
Show her this post, dude.........
Me and mine have 30+ years of putting up with my jams, gigs, bands, and all around late night fuck-ups. But as long as I show her I care with a few moments of love in return, she'll back you all the way. If you truely believe in yourself and your dreams, a good woman will follow,... as long as you share those dreams.
Love is Cool sometimes dude,
Now play Led Zeps Lemon song and do what you must
Whoooooo Hooooooooo

Jesse - you haven't sold out - you've just bought in! I think this your best song yet. It's the best marriage of music and words that I've heard from you and it sounds like the song that you most connect with in an authentic way. Your voice sounds great - Jethro Tull meets Alice in Chains! And I love the arrangement and how it changes mood from section to section in such a dynamic and dramatic way. I love most of your previous stuff but this song is a giant leap forward. Vocally, musically, lyrically, production and arrangement -wise, this song is very nuanced and real. I love the headbanger stuff you do and of course you should keep doing a variety of styles but I think you're evolving into a more mature artist who can do it all. A few more songs like this in your set will really make you a more well rounded artist regardless of whether it's a love song or not. The important thing is that you're finding yourself emotionally, intellectually, vocally and musically. Even the harder stuff will probably reflect your new way of doing things. Love does great things for people!
I'm sure guys will be saying "I wish that I had Jesse's girl......" (had to get that in there) ;-) This review is in keeping with my attempts to try and write more thorough, meaningful reviews of songs on the blogs. I hope folks will do the same when I post my new stuff. Congrats Jesse. Does this mean you are no longer the angry young man? I doubt it.
Edit - I love the title, too. This song could be a hit. The only things you'll be selling out are stadiums.

Very Cool Jesse, I would not say you sold out...it sounds like a "Grunge" love song...which is far from selling out, you kept it real to what you were feeling, and expressed it in "Your" way.
On another note, Love the sound of the recording..the guitars sound sweet. Only suggestion would be to get to the verse quicker as the intro is a tad too long, but that is just nit picking :) Good Job. Jeff

You guys take me WAY too literally sometimes. The "sell-out" line was sarcasm... a bit of humor if you will, to try to make the post at least quasi entertaining. Believe it or not, I was taking bananas advice. Apparently you can learn something from a brightly colored fruit shaped like a penis.
Thank you all for the kind words and station adds. Looks like Grega will be up on this tune soon. Anybody think the voxs need to be a scoch louder? I might bump them up just a bit when I mix in Grega's guitar.
Word.

Wow Rich, thanks for the great review and support! I have most definitely gotten closer to where I want to be with my music, and how I want to express myself. I'm finding that instead of being bitchy and cranky about the things I see in the world that bother me that I can't really do anything about, I'll put that energy into genuine, heart felt songs. Dare I say I am finally becoming a songwriter? I've also found it helps you cope with said issues, to "get them off your chest" so to speak. I'm learning, and I'm becoming more comfortable with my singing all the time. It will only get better. For the record, I get the feeling some heavy stuff will be coming along shortly, probably heavier than anything I've done before just due to the fact that it will be attached to heavy subject matters.
P.S. The song is called DNA cuz my girls name is Danna... just seemed to make sense.

In my opinion the vocals seem to sit just where they should be for this type of song.
How was the acoustic guitar recorded? It sounds very phat and sonically pleasing.

Advice from Banana eh??? come to think of it where is that piece of fruit?? And anyone else think it odd that Holo is not having an orgasm here after the health care bill passed?? sorry I digress, back to your original programming. I am interested on how you recorded the song as well Jesse.

Thanks Rich. I like it better this afternoon after listening to it again... wasn't so sure this morning. The acoustic guitar was recording using a Carvin CM-87S condenser mic. I recorded it direct into my Boss using an on board effect for recording vocals, which is basically just a light EQ with some compression.

Ha.
Yes.
You the man in love who sold out ... in Jesse-title-speak.
I've not heard this before. Is it new? :)
The find is the find. No shame, no strings attached ... only love.
When it happens, it's not a sell out.
It's a buy in.

Out of the gate, I think it needs less guitar.
This should be done a capella. I also think machine guns firing in the background would enhance the meaning of the work.
Actually, there should be a nuclear explosion occurring right in the middle of the piece ... which would reflect the meaning of how we should love everyone just before we all perish in the end of the world fire.
But it you left it as is ... it would very very very good.

Funny how you get my abstract that isn't ... and mirror my tendency to remix until it's right to the ear that counts most. That would be yours, not mine, btw, ... J ... but you knew that and this is better.

Mr. Adams: Has anybody ever told you there is a little bit of Lane Staley in your vocals? Very nice.
Keep this up and it'll be your music playing on my page,
with TRULY successful artists like IAC's Tom Waits, Pete Townshend, and X, for example.

Thanks guys. And thanks Kev for making me realize the slight over indulgence in the guitar. I kind of realized it to begin with, but Gregas playing is pretty fun to listen to on my tracks. It can be easy to get carried away sometimes.
Anon E. Mouse... to be honest, yes.
I also lowered the volume on Gregas guitars just a tad, EQ'd the mids a tad differently and took a tinsy bit of reverb off the vocal to provide a bit more detail and clarity. Myes.
On to the next tune! I'm feeling my momentum coming back.

Waachoo- tawkin' 'bout? "on to the next tune"
Where's the over-embellisher in you?
--"It's never finished, until it's perfect."
--"we're not ready to play out yet...just a few more months"
--- "don't play YOUR own music in between sets, play a real artist, that everyone knows"
--- "you can't create your own scene"
-- "that's not singing....that's YELLING"
-- "your mother dresses you funny........"
and "don't eat yellow snow!"......... uh.....
....urrr... actually, I kind of a agree with that last one.
