Are we ultimately all alone, each and every one of us?
I believe that might be the case. Neil Young has a song that says Everyone will touch the night.
Perhaps the loneliest feeling in the universe is knowing you want to get something done, something you care about, something that should be fun. New songs that may be great. Yet you know you can't bring yourself to do it, there's something stopping you. You don't have the kind of desire needed to even start. Then you start to imagine pain in your limbs. You're only capable of achieving things that don't matter. I hope there isn't a god cause I don't want him to be watching me right now. It's utter madness, this world, but it's fun to talk to myself. Well it was, now I'm tired of it.

usefulness ... how we all long to be tools
this is when sex and sugar come in handy... and it's good to talk about yourself when no one knows who you are thus making you useless and anonymous
is it so bad being useless and anonymous i wonder ? if it is then i'm in trouble i do it all the time but then again...
i'm a perv
a loving perv ... a perv that would love to buy you a cup of coffee right now and make horrific misshapen faces at you and show you how entertaining uselessness truly is... and goldfish. Soon enough the toilet will need fixing... and the whole sham will burst as bubbles do... damn toilets

yes, and especially when the toilet is in fine working order, but the toilet seat slides off just as you're in mid wee and then that's a fine mess to have to clean up
not very sanitary I say
it makes me feel dirty just thinking about it

I think that the definition of Moral Corage is comming to understand that we are alone and there is no God, and still doing all we can to help each other and do the right thing for the betterment of society and the planet.
In a way it's a relief , and it gives our efforts even more meaning because they are OUR efforts. were not appeasing some gaseous tyrant under threat of punishment, all of the goodness and the poetry and the art, Civics and Culture...these were OUR ideas!!!
That's worth living for and worth pursuing.

To say God does or doesn't exist is to say the same thing
Believe what you will, of course, but the truth is as unseen as it is tangible
One can't prove one's belief any more than one's love, and perhaps there is a place where science and divine creation are in cahoots ... who knows?
Then again... maybe we are flukes ever climbing up the rung of the galaxies endangered species list ... kamakaze evolutionary pigs building our houses out of straw ever tempting the big bad wolf with arrogance and toothpaste
I thank God for toothpaste, whoever God is, perhaps it's you and me
Or perhaps it's Procter & Gamble
Or nature which is completely indifferent, ruthless, and quite compassionate to say the least when one considers the good grace of an apple
To me it is a mystery... I simply don't know, and that's ok
I believe in hope and am open to the unknown
much to learn
bye

It's good to be alone physically sometimes but without the subliminal influence of other people at your disposal you may flounder. Have you ever noticed that whenever being 'alone' starts to really bother you someone or something always makes a timely entrance. It feels to me at least that in life we never actually get to the point of no return and it's reassuring to trust that there will always be some amazing saving grace in whatever form that takes.

Some think being alone is perfect in order to properly savor times when you've intertwined with another. In less depressing times, I don't think we're ultimately alone because you can be so close to someone you are one with them. Which brings up the question, if you are one with somebody else, are you alone still because they are engrained in you? The 2 of you are alone as one. Not lonely though.
If you're in a room full of people unlike yourself, can you discombobulate them enough with your savage wit where they actually become good company? Only if they had it in them to begin with, which you can find out by hitting them in the back of the head with a stick and see if they cry out in pain soulfully, or not.

I think the only person you can truly rely upon in life is yourself. There is never any guarantee that those who accompany us on life's journey will always be there to comfort and support us as life can be taken away in an instant. However I hope this song that DirgeK left behind 'You're Not Alone' will make you feel better

I am going to be perfectly Frank, not to make your post stand out ~ with a name such as yours it will certainly do so on its own. The points you make are dear to my heart so I want to comment.
"Which brings up the question, if you are one with somebody else, are you alone still because they are engrained in you? The 2 of you are alone as one. Not lonely though."
Speaking of a soul mate connection, which I believe you are… in this case you don't feel alone, somehow in one's heart there is a sense of connection which is always at the forefront of your mind. It takes time to understand what that is about, the process can be extremely intense and self-confronting. Few can understand unless they experience that kind of relationship, and you are not lonely when you feel that complete. There doesn't have to be conditions place upon it except for what you might choose to in your mind, this is the kind of love you share with someone you can't run or hide from even if you tried.
Even to those who know such connection, when the heart is closed the mind may only sense what divides you rather than what keeps you together. Times like these could be based in fear, for whatever reason ~ it might even be out of concern in loosing someone so important... as much as yourself. Conversely when you break through the fear of loosing self ~ one open's to a world of depth, beauty and to a true sense of oneness. One of the benefits of feeling such positive connection is in how that transmutes into your life and with respect creativity. Aside of a soul mate connection which is more personal, it is also my observation each person can experience a sense of this from the world around us as we learn to draw from within what is already there and unique for us each individually to experience.
"If you're in a room full of people unlike yourself, can you discombobulate them enough with your savage wit where they actually become good company?"
yes, no and sometimes a bit of both. The depressing part is when people want to make up their own story and expect you or others to buy it as if your life is for sale. In my mind no one has a right to say what is true for you except yourself.
Hopefully that is enough psychoanalasizing for today. I don't suggest to have answers for everyone, however I am adamant about what is true for myself.
... and now I resign to the flow of the ants invasion ... :~D

"Perhaps the loneliest feeling in the universe is knowing you want to get something done, something you care about, something that should be fun. New songs that may be great"
If you have been writing songs, you have been doing all of the above...
I believe that no one is really alone unless they want to be alone, not even in a desert. One may feel alone, but as long as we are in someone's thoughts we are not alone.
As long we give of ourselves, as long as we reach out to others, as long as we can appreciate and share the simple things, we are never alone!!
Well it is goodnight for me now,
Buonanotte,
Vincenzo
