Thank you for posting the video, and yeah, I'm a huge Waits fan. I'm still waiting for another sex seen with him and Lilly Tomlin, it was hot.

I phreakin' LOVE Tom Waits!
And are you talkin' 'bout the "Jon SPencer" Blues Explosion?? Hells yeah one of my BIGGEST idols, and a TRUE indie rocker.
Did you ever check out his earlier band PUSSY GALORE?? They were experimental and played like chaos in a bottle, but ruled in their own way.
John Spencer got to play with the famous blues man, R. L. Burnside, as well.

Ahhhh, I see we are like minded in our admiration the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, which incidentally has officially changed their name to Blues Explosion. I was only trying to be pc for the bands sake. I know....I am a loser. But I do have Pussy Galore in my collection for sure! I also have the R.L. Burnside album they played on too. R.L. also sang "Chicken Dog" on the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion album "Now I Got Worry".
As for other side projects there are many. There is the band Heavy Trash that is Jon Spencer and a buddy of his. I can't recall the bud's name. So good. There is the band Butter 08, which features Russell Simmons on drums (and the girls from Cibo Matto). That Butter 08 album is a classic. Been rocking to that for so long. I think 10 years?? Holy heck. Anyway. There is another Russell Simmons side project called Crunt as well. Awesomely dirt rock.
I am trying to think of others. Hmmm.......

I tell you this. Even as an almost COMPLETELY underground artist, who may NEVER get to Jon Spencer's Level - We can NEVER have too many side projects, if time & money permit it. That's how you keep growin' and learn to collaborate with others, and find band mates & new songs and shit.
It's also SO damn much fun, to be the backup for somebody else! Helps keep you in your place, ya know.
ANY other Jon Spencer fans out there? I've been blessed enough to see them twice. My FIRST drummer, who I actually never got to play with, but is probably the BIGGEST influence on me as a musician, here in Tucson, who's name is SPLAT, got to play with Jon when he came through.
Phucky luckin' Devil.
He stopped doin' music when he hit 32, because he said it was an embarassing shame for an over 30 person to still be parading around like a rock star, and acting like they have some kind of teen angst.
I obviously failed to listen to my friend Splat, on that one. But MTV or being one of the "beautiful people", like Marilyn Manson (hee heee), has NEVER been my goal. JUst wanna be ME. pHLeGm, puttin' it all out there as a man running out of time, just like the infamous Father Time....
BUT, I deal with it by having some "over 40" angst, about the shitty state of things; do ya think it still works fer me, mutha fucka?
uh.... don't be offended please. In this PC place, I must let you know, that was a rhetorical question.
