I'm sorry but I have to . .
. .watch the Olympics. I know there was a bit of a lobby to boycott them but I just love to see the culmination of 4 years work and aspirations from the athletes and sportsmen/women
I know it was probably a mistake to give the honours to China not least of all because of their pollution which is not conducive to the games performances, let alone all the human rights issues, but the participants have done nothing wrong and should not be punished by having their audience decimated.
During these games I will see youngsters achieving there personal bests, I see them taking part in the most important thing in their lives, I see spectacular feats and records being broken. I love the grace of the gymnasts the skills of the marksmen, the strength of the power sports,, the stamina of the long distance runners, the discipline of all taking part and I share their emotions when the win and lose.
So I have to watch, wherever it happens to be.
I'm a Canadian but I don't just cheer for my Country, I prefer to think of the games as a showcase for individuals but I love to see minor Countries have a hero to put them on the map.
