What? Me jealous?

Ever been jealous of another musician? Sometimes the admiration for another artist gets in the way of your own work. Just because someone else has written a song or found a style you love doesn’t mean that your potential audience won’t find you. No matter how much you love, say the Beatles, there are others out there who have tired of it, or won’t give it a second listen. Your sound is uniquely so, and the trick is finding it. After you have found your own unique way it's to connect with the folks who will love you. When asked what was the most important aspect of being discovered, Deborah Harry (of Blondie) responded without a doubt, ”having a unique sound”. She must be right. That’s what IAC is here for.

He who tries to please everyone ends up pleasing no one.

Different music is appealing for diverse reasons. Look at all the categories of music and how some are great for their groove, some for the beat, some for the emotion, some for the message, some for the musician’s performance; it goes on and on. There are as many reasons for music as there are human feelings.

So it’s good to listen to others, but don’t feel jealous when you find something super, just enjoy it and enjoy your own sound too.

I had a friend with a real CD collection and one day I see these Bob Dylan CD’s at the end of his shelf. It didn’t fit the stuff he usually listened to so I asked him, “what’s with this?” He tells me, “Dylan was great but he sings out of tune, he drags, rushes, the guy really can’t sing, so I put him on for a while and I think,” well at least I can sing better than Dylan” “.

SOOOOOO, if you really want to feel better, listen to this mess at the url below and you will say, “At least my stuff is better than this crapola!”
