Everybody is a Star
I don't think the general idea of the lyrics for this song that you can find online are right. Sly Stone song. Here is what is posted everywhere for the first verse:
Everybody is a star
Who can rain, chase the dust away
Everybody wants to shine
Oh, come out on a cloudy day
Till the sun that loves you brown
When the system tries to bring you down
Every hand to shine tonight
You don't need darkness to do what you think is right
I don't know what is right, but these don't seem right:
"Who can rain, chase the dust away"
I don't know, Mon
"Oh, come out on a cloudy day"
I thought it was who'll come out on a cloudy day
"Every hand to shine tonight"
That means nothing...
I always thought it was "ever had to shine the light when you don't need nothin' to do what you think is right"
My versions don't exactly add up either, but does anyone have a good clue. Kind want to do this song at my show this Friday.
While we're at it, Van Morrison's tune "Wild Nights" has never had satisfactory lyrics posted anywhere for this one line. Maybe you know what it is:
As you brush your shoes
Stand before the mirror
And you comb your hair
Grab your coat and hat
And you walk, wet streets
Tryin' to remember
All the wild night breezes
In your mem'ry ever
The last line "in your mem'ry ever"
doesn't seem right, and I've seen a few goofy interpretations. Anyone know what it is. I could swear he's saying something about "Mary Edwards."
