People change.

in my treks across the desert I've run into a lot of songs about change. The Who did one called Music Must Change, i don't really believe that's so. Negative Tendencies did The Change Is For The Better, and it isn't always, i'll prove that soon. Father Time has one that ends with the words "just to think at first, you thought you were changing me" which is thought-provoking but none of which is what i'm blogging about today.

i've always been the constant, i never change, i'm so steadfast and loyal that i do indeed often make myself sick. but people do change and i've got the proof. i know people who i met as enthusiastic positive people lighting up my life who ended up as sour as the world has ever seen. they always have excuses for how they turned out but never good ones. life isn't hard enough and then there's somebody who you come to expect something from and start to get something else. it might take you years to even realize it because you're locked into what they once were.

people are allowed to be who they are regardless of your expectations. if you're in a relationship with pam and she out of the blue becomes a methhead well that's what she is, try to change that at your own peril. try to change anybody's politics and you're wasting your time. now you might be able to change someone's life by bringing them opportunities or what have you but then you get to observe as what they are melts into another whole life. meanwhile if you try to change your life you may succeed but unfortunately it's still you that is living the new life. adjust or be eaten by progress.

i often wish i could turn off all the morphing that goes on. i can't keep up. i blow thru towns that are totally different than when i rolled thru in some distant heyday. sometimes it seems like everything's changin' so i do a 360 panorama and crumble to the ground in confusion.
