my holiday is rollin' across some state line when nobody's lookin'
if you're a man who measures progress by how far you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps, it's hard to figure out your place in this world. there's a lot of love around, both in front of you and surrounding you of which the latter is a beautiful thing, however still there's this gnawing ridge on the east side of Appalachia that you been starvin to see the view from.
when you break it all down, it's gonna be impossible to get there, and since you know you deserve the thing, it might be right what she's telling you that you be setting your own stagecoach for some ultimately empty disappointment as long as you covet this higher ground.
still you like to roll, matter o factly you like every minute of the lonng, lonng journey so what is grippin you about needing to climb? thinkin a little harder you keep settin the crosshairs of your scope a little further away. you need to strive, don'tcha? you need to want the thing you haven't got. but you should have that and it ain't comin, is it?
