where did that come from?
i just put down my acoustic, fifteen minutes after picking it up. this, in terms of recent strummage, was a relatively long session. it struck me that inspiration must come from within, or the ether, or fm. i can pick up the guitar of an evening, pluck a couple of notes and put it down again, instantly disinterested.
yet in the exact same place, at another time, i can get lost playing for hours. everything about the two occasions is identical, apart from that one scenario finds me 'inspired' and the other 'insipid'.
i remember a time when i couldn't walk past a musical instrument, of any kind, and not have a go. these times now, when i really get into it, temporarily revive that raw enthusiasm.
it's a good thing.

Well yes... that's just being creative.

Don't even try to qualify it or study it. Just go with it.

Also you're wrong. The OBJECTS around you might be the same but you were'nt thinking the same things. Between those times you had all sorts of thoughts.

Wow, if we could just avoid the process of living by staying in the same spot :)

You know perfectly well that the Greeks (or was it the Romans?0 called that peculiar inspiration the MUSE angel.

I try not to think of my creative periods as me when they're happening. It's not the Muse either. It's just stuff going on. Make good use of it. You can use time sans-Muse to apply some sensibble logic to whatever you've come up with while on your cloud of daft creativity. Or do really fucking tedious admin stuff like find out know radio people who might like your stuff and actually write the names down for future mailouts.

THAT is how I manage *my* creative brain.

With little success.

I can't say I actually adhere to any of the admin side of things I said. In fact I don't. Album released in June.
So, is it sent out to BBC Radio6 (various people) or XFM (various people) yet? Or (for print) to Kerrang and NME and Organ etc? Of course not! Why? Simply because I haven't done that yet.
Why? erm... dunno... boring innit...

That in a nutshell is why creative people need a manager.
