Tanner Press Interview 10/15/08
This is an interview by Taxi on Tanner and his latest release.
Taxi.com, 10/15/08:
Q: So we hear you have a new album you just released? Tell us about it!
A: Yes! It's an EP called "Last to Bloom" and I couldn't be more excited about it. It's a preview of some of the music I've been making the past couple of years. I wrote and produced everything so I'm very proud of it!
Q: Awesome! We've heard it and we we're pleasantly surprised. Where did you get your style from?
A: My style developed over time while I was in music school and just by listening and analyzing other artists. I took what they had done and threw in my own twists to make something new.
Q: What makes your music "new"?
A: My music is new because I throw around so much stuff. Stuff meaning drum beats, chords, vocals, raps, claps, crickets, and whatever else I feel like. There is no main ingredient like most songs. I think of myself as a composer and my song as the composition. Everything blends together to make up the overall theme. That's why I'm always fresh.
Q: Nice. Who are the artists who have influenced you the most?
A: My biggest influences are probably Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Dwele, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, and Enya. (I know it's kinda random!)
Q: Not really... we love Enya! Those are all fine artists too. Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you're most proud of?
A: I was most proud of my first song that I produced professionally: "Somethin' Somethin'". I wanted to burn it to CDs and give it to everybody. I was so proud of that track!
Q: What's next for you?
A: I hope to release a full album soon. I'm going to start performing more in public. I've always been more of a reclusive computer artist, not one who plays around town. It's time to change that I think. OH and I hope to release a clothing line, a fragrance called "Ice T" , maybe even a shoe collection available at Macy's... KIDDING! I don't really know though. Just newer, hotter songs, and a newer, more fabulous me!
Q: Sounds good to us. We hope to see you live one day. And about that shoe collection... what's the price range gonna be?
A: Oh, trust me... you couldn't afford it :)
