Help
I have only been a member here for a few months now but I have noticed that this site is full of great music. I really haven't heard anything here yet that wasn't as good if not better than the commercial junk.
I got to thinking this evening that it is a shame that the talent here is not being heard more. What can I do? What can we do? So I thought I would ask the community.

We are an international community here and it seems to me there's a lot of people to promote to world wide. A LOT. Billions! I mean why let our fellows continue to be left to the commercial tripe when there's so much gold here. It is a win-win-win for us-them-iac.

Does anyone have any ideas to help promote this awesome resource to more people?

I just thought of a couple off the top of my head. Link here from your other networks. Plug the site at your live performances.

I know there's some intelligent people here. Ideas?!!

Glad you like it here!

Lets see..........
I make my own CD's and there's a plug for the IAC website in everyone of them on the inside info page.
I tell all of my friends face to face.
Links on myspace and facebook as well as my own website.
I plug the site every live gig (during guitar tunings and such.)

I haven't done the door to door mormon thing yet though.......

So Sign of Descent, let me clarify, yes iacmusic is full of multi-talented incredibly gifted musicians, it is great resource of a tremendous variety of artists, and I think all of what you are asking is being attended to by the people who handle iacmusic.com as we blog this subject out. If you read up on the front page there are some major changes going on here, but to the effect of promoting artists music to radio or marketing their music, that I doubt, although I could be mistaken, there will be some aspects that will be covered to some degree in that way, i would imagine the best people to answer that question are those that are involved with improving the whole purpose of iacmusic itself and taking it perhaps in a different direction that could assist you and me and the artist community in general..but as for promoting ones individual music careers, well I would leave that to the professionals, those that know the business. although this could be something that iacmusic is partnering up with others in the music biz to expand their horizons in improving their service profile, I am not completely sure, just conjecturing

Radio Radio, my god what has happened to Radio
Marketing your music/ cds et al to Radio,

I could spend an hour or more providing the various aspects of how the industry works, how it use to work and how it works now, the landscape has changed drastically in the last 7-10 years, and I have promoted many artists using various systems for getting their music out there into radioland, lets face it, its a whole different ball of wax, it is still in a state of flux, but we may just be turning the corner finally after years of strangeness, I know something about the industry, not a lot, but I may just take the time again and lay it out again here, but if you want some great reading and insight, check out Bryan Farrish radio promotions and read up and subscribe to http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/ the guy is phenomenal with his insight and knowledge base

there is no easy way to explain, there are many books, support guides and magazines you can subscribe to, it is all about the business of music and not just about the music

here is one of the best info centers on the radio promotion gig thing you could ever read
check it out, it will open your eyes and enlighten you....I hope........it is all about getting a TEAM behind you , advocates who believe in YOU, and your willingness to be in it for the long haul and take rejection and wins in stride..

it is somewhat dated, but the principles remain the same

Radio Promotion 101: How to Promote Your Music on Radio

The other area to pursue is getting your tunes to TV Shows, Movies, Specials and commercials
getting your songs on tv and movies

oh, just in case, and if you are wondering if I have credentials and think to yourself, what all this, here is a link that will take you to just a few artists I have promoted, assisted, motivated and supported in their quest to terrestrial, satellite cable and internet radio which is located at Voodoohead Productions

Hi Guys

A great blog
--- and we are doing our bit by promoting our 20 radio stations
showcasing the best artists we find here into niche markets on other sites, plus we bring emerging artists from our country (New Zealand) to join iac free and then put up their songs on a variety of appropriate stations

At the moment we have the #2 station here FAME & GLORY
plus #7 SOUTH DOWN UNDER and it is on these most popular stations that the plays happen---we will check out your tunes

cheers Rob
