sad but true BJ...but their musical legacy will carry on...
and carry all of us away somewhere beyond the chains
of time, chains of trouble, chains which bind, beyond
the locks of the mind...all meant to be broken...all meant
to be escaped from....somehow. Turn UP a little Hendrix sometime.

My friend Dave (HoP drummer) just saw him here in Chicago when the Experience Hendrix tour came through. He said that he wasn' quite as energetic as he had hoped.
This is a sad day. Mitch was truly one of the all-time greats.

"Axis Bold As Love" and "Are You Experienced" have been re-released on vinyl with the original album covers. $30 bucks a piece but well worth it for these two mind altering records. I always loved Jimi but I wasn't crazy about the Band Of Gypsies line up. Mitch was integral to Jimi's unique sound.

yeh, evahbody...a sad day in Rock history...a reminder of
how tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. I suppose he wuz
gettin up there in the age and I suppose he wouldn't be as
energetic as back in the day...but then, he was touring on
the memories of The Hendrix Experience without his other
mates, so that would be expected..but isn't it amazing and a
true testimony of the power of music and it's lasting effects
upon countless listeners. In the long run, I suppose life is all
about memories, or the lack of them. I'll bet everybody has
some key-point memories attached to many of the songs
by Jimi, Noel, Mitch, and company.R.I.P. and Rock ON
Mitch Mitchell !!!

I guess Cream was the "1st" Power trio but these three certainly took it to another level. Redding/Mitchell was a truly awesome rythmn section. "Fire" was my personal favorite.
RIP Mitch Mitchell....

Heres I DONT LIVE TODAY recorded live at The Royal
Albert Hall in The UK, where, believe it or not, Hendrix Experience
was quite popular, more so than in America, where many
seemed to have no clue what it was about. Here, Mitchell shows
how the drumming back ground he provided, enabled
Jimi much freedom to work his free-style magic. On this
night they were all....ON!
