Ladies & Gentlemen,

I'm really curious to know from all ARTISTS IN IAC the most important points that you are looking for a perfect band manager.

Considering that I manage a lot of International bands for worldwide I like always to know what the musicians are looking for to get a perfect one.

Thanks for your sure answer, with my best regards.

I would want my songs placed in various places: Films, shows, samplers, playlists that places of biz use...

I think if certain of my songs were placed in the right places, things would go well for my music.

BUt I don't even know where to start to get them placed, and I just don't have the mind to tend to it. I mean, if I have time to work on my music, then I just work on my music.

Promoting it is so far from me...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't an agent do that versus a manager?

I believe a manager handles the band, shapes the band's image and communicates with everyone outside (including agents and producers) on behalf of the band etc ...

... but an agent is the one that finds the bookings and placements for the band and its music. So in context, the manager would find the agency to handle placing the music.

That's what I thought anyways ...

If I understood very well, Bob is looking for a Manager for to promote his music around the world because as you said its a long job and takes time to do it in professional way..

Yes! Its true...a good manager promotes his Artists in magazines, medias, TV and normally its looking for to get interviews.

Then for you BOB, promotion is the first important thing to get your music listened.

Now I answer Kevin...

An example. SolMusic Management Inc. Canada is MANAGEMENT and BOOKING AGENCY.

For some Artists we represent them as Management, then we choice a good Booking Agency that will work to book Tours, shows, single appearance, Festivals...etc...
The booking Agency is an AGENT and has a legal contract with the band Management, and then its authorized to make the shows contracts and that Promoter, Agent (band's representation) and Management will sign together to make it legal and valid.

Normally the Management choices a different Agency for every Continent, but in some case there are Booking Agencies working for worldwide.

I know that in USA its illegal to be both of those..or you are Manager or you are Agent you can't be both.

In Europe is different a Management can be also an Agent and then to represent the Artist in a business one.

This is in less words the difference between Management and Booking Agency.

For further questions you can contact me again.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Tizania

I think it is important that a manager believes in the artists work that they are "managing"--
That they personally "rate" the product----and enthuse others with their opinions!

There is so much good music online now it is virtually impossible to be "Discovered" by a label-----therefore a management team can make the difference--imo

cheers Rob

Hello Rob,

nice to talk with you again my friend.

Yeah, the first important thing for a Management is to believe in their Artists, and to make the people interested to listen the product.
Today to get Label deal its not easy...I think an Artist would has to think only to write music and then the business part has to be in the manager hands.

Manager knows all Music laws that its really important for to get a GOOD and RIGHT LABEL DEAL.

Have a nice night my friend.

With my best regards.

I just think my music's got the stuff, and if someone with the business touch believed in it and went out there doing what they do...I think both of us would end up in a good place because I think my music reaches people when it gets a chance.

I also am pretty sure I don't give it much of a chance.
