I'm Just Me
Due to physical weakness while my body rehabs from surgery, I have had some issues with playing most of my instruments. So, I started concentrating on getting my voice back in some decent shape. I was doing some vocal harmony exercises when this song came to me out of the Blue. So, I went ahead and recorded what I was doing. It was a lot of fun singing all these parts. The hardest part was recording the finger snaps. Did so many takes on that that my fingers became cracked. Any who, hope you like it...................

Wow! This song is amazing, Stoneman. The chorus hook is right in the pocket ~ very catchy ala The Temptations. The harmonies are right on the money too. This all sounds like a great deal of work was put into it but as you say, it's all fun for you and it shows. You make it fun for the listener too. I'd love to hear it with music but it works fine as A Capella. It's true, you're just you but that makes the world a better place, so keep being you and keep up the good work.

I listened to this a day or so ago when it was listed in New Songs on the IAC front page. What a great surprise to hear an acappella tune! One of my favorite genres - and this has a great harmonic edge to it. I always want to do one, but obviously, I'm lacking the bass voice - I can totally sing low enough for tenor though. Plus, funny what you say about the finger snaps - with all the loops and samples and such available I have always had to do my own finger snaps and whistling.
Great tune as usual, Stoneman

Thanks so much Richard and Delores. D. I have to get as many of these songs in while I can still sing a bit of the lower registry. That part of my voice is getting weaker each year. Yeah, I tried some of those finger snap samples but they were all so unrealistic. I even tried to flange them so that they sounded less robotic. But, I was disappointed with it. I am weird in that I tend to think anything that is authentically acoustic like acappella vocals should have everything authentically acoustic as accompaniment. The problem was that my arthritic fingers got really sore and tired after several tracks of finger snaps. My first thought was to record the snaps at the same time that I recorded each vocal track. But that left me with no independent control of the snaps volume. So, I went old school with it. I love all the new fangled stuff but sometimes you just got get in their and snap those fingers.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Thanks so much Paul, so glad you like. You are welcome to work on a "with music" version if you want. I am open to that!

Bravo! Brilliant, Stoneman. Really nice arrangement and melody. And the idea is a great one - I would love to see a kids' choir do this. The finger snaps are really crisp, by the way. Being ourselves is the key to any art. You are a strong individual and I love that your music is constantly surprising and fresh.
Hope your rehab is going well.
