What's Your Plans?
I am a firm believer that with most things that you do, you need to start with a plan. Planning is the foundation for building a house of accomplishments. Quite often it doesn't work out the way you thought or you may change up and create a new plan in the middle of the first. But having a plan is always a good place to start. With that in mind, you guessed it, What are your musical plans for the next year? What are the things you would like to accomplish? I like to make my plans realistic. But there is nothing wrong with shooting for all those big things in life. Often, from big plans come big accomplishments.
How about I start this out and maybe, if any of you are interested, you can add your own plans. Then, later in the year we can look this post back up and plug in a complete for each thing as we accomplish it. I know. Probably way too involved for most but there may be a few of you that might welcome the structure of a plan with your progress reports along the way.
Of course, I will start it off with my own plans.
By June I hope to have finished everything with the 3 CD's that I have been working on for the past two years. Everything is done but the mastering of 2 (This Time It's Personal-R&B/Hip-Hop, Club Stoneman-Dance/Electronic) The 3rd one (Randum Shiznit-multiple genres) is still being recorded. I need to get off my ass and get the completed ones in the mastering house. Right now, I don't think I will do many physical prints. I am thinking of having digital releases only for all 3 projects.
By summer I hope to be started on both a Reggae and a Gospel/Hip-Hop CD.
I want to be finished with those CD's by end of the year and they will probably be the last CD's of my career. I hope to be transitioning into strictly songwriting and production for other artists this time next year. About time for the dinosaur to succumb to the ice age.
Like I said, it is just an overall plan but many things could happen that could change my whole list of priorities. With plans there are always the details that need to be mapped out with bench mark dates. At least, that's how I like to do it. But I won't bore you with all the details. Would love to read about your plans if there are any takers.
Wishing You All A Tremendously "Happy Holiday Season"

Good luck with fulfilling all your plans Stoneman..Woh,thats alot of CDs man..
My plans are basically to continue writing, recording and producing one new song/track every 2 weeks (the informal agreement i've got with my ex Colette where we each have to produce and post to each other a newly written song/track every 2 weeks to share with each other..We're currently on the 4th..)
Want to keep that up at least till the end of next year..
Mix,produce and finish the 3 new songs i recorded with my drummer friend
Get my cello friend to add his part to my song 'Born In The Old Days' and finally get it finished and posted online..
Keep producing a new song to enter into the songwriting comp at musesmuse. each month
Find a way to have alot more power and influence in the world - so i can bring the ace creative indie music i love to a huge audience and help the revolution against the $$$ eyed corporate-kissin' chancers n mediocre axis-of-awesome 4 chord pedallers that numb people rather than wake them n clog up the arteries of the worlds heart...
That last ones not serious btw.. Would be good if it came true tho lol

Great idea Stoneman - good luck with your plan!
Setting plans and targets always helps me too!
wow - where to start!
- Finish mastering the 10 tracks I've recorded for my new album, design and produce artwork for CD, plan an album party/launch - probably around March 2013 and get it on CDbaby and iTunes etc. Probably do a few hard copies but mainly digital.
- Continue sharing music here and running my stations/interacting
- Continue attending Bristol Percussion Orchestra to keep my rhythm hand in
- Help start a Sabar Drumming group in Bristol
- Continue playing flute with my hang drum friend Ursula and develop a set
- Continue running Electrosonica evenings with my musical partner Paddy
- Try and get regular gigs round Bristol
- Find my writing mojo and write some new songs!!!
That's just my music stuff - it would take all day for the rest. Happy Christmas and a great creative New Year to all my IAC friends. Thanks for all your support and encouragement - it means the world to me.

no plans personally, never is, i fly by the seat of my pants most times.and it is on the spur of the moment when I have time
business wise, lots of promotion of established voodoohead artists releasing cds and new artists coming onboard which takes up the majority of my life and of course music teaching going on and starting a new venture with some internet jazz program with a few students either skype or video lessons
thats about it

My father is the most planned out person the world will probably ever know. His son therefore has the planning function absent from his brain.
In my life planning usually means I have lss time to do my music because my time has been plannd, so i don't plan much.
As far as my music plans, they are always so obvious. I plan to get in that studio any available moment and try to make the masterful album I've been after all along.
That's the plan, and I work on it any possible time I can.

My plans are to just keep trying to make good music that people like. I'd like to also try my hand at making music videos.

I'm humble before all the plans listed here. I love making plans but unfortunately I am a plan's worst nightmare. I get waaaaay too obsessive about the outcome and try much too hard and make everyone around me nervous, and then the music sounds uptight and nervous. The closest I can get to a plan is to just head in a direction and spur of the moment record the sounds that come at me.

Really enjoyed reading about everyone's plans for 2013. Wishing you all great success! Also, it seems that many people don't plan at all. They just do! Well, I certainly can't argue with that as there are times when I chuck all my plans and do what becomes urgently needed or artistically dominant. It happens! Thanks for everyone's input! Lets add to it as the year progresses.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

I have creativity coach that I've worked with (like a life coach for creative types) who gave me the idea of accountability partners. When I really want to accomplish something, it helps to tell someone who can hold you accountable. You often get more done when you've verbalized what you want to do. So you are all my accountability partners.
That being said, I have only a vague plan for this year, but I see it involving breaking into the film and TV world somehow. I flirted with it last year, but this year I'm moving to the San Francisco Bay Area where I know a lot more musicians. I think I'll re-establish some old connections and do some quality recording - that's always been my hangup - getting quality production; it's just not where my skills are at.
Also this year I plan on continuing to practice the violin and get good enough by the end of the year to record some guitar and violin Christmas tunes for friends and family.
I'll only be a few hours' drive from my friend, Bob, and I expect some fireworks from that combination. Maybe a new Dreamtown album?
This year starts for me with the CD, One Hit Wonder, that I'm currently finishing. Most of the songs have already been posted here, but there's a couple new ones coming. Let me know where and I'll send you a copy when they're finished.

Tom, let me know when you get to the Bay Area. We can hang out a bit and toke up! I am located in Clayton, a stones throw from Concord/Walnut Creek. About 30 minutes from San Francisco. Wishing you great success on your projects for this year!
