I dreamed I was Woodstock Taylor last night
It was just for a short bit of a vivid dream. Some lady asked me if I sang and I said "that's me on the radio" ( it was Woodstock's voice).
I remember a bit of the song. It went "He was stomping through town in his hobnail boots, with a cling clang, bing bang, sing sang song."
Then I woke up.
Weird, huh?

...alive as you or me
he was tearing through these quarters
in the utmost misery
with a blanket underneath his arm
and a coat of solid gold
searching for the very souls
who already have been sold

Glad you got the message, Sly. That was me on the radio, transmitting at full strength.
Strangely enough, I dreamed I was Woodstock Taylor last night too. Then I woke up to find out that I still was. I can't tell you how relieved that made me feel.

Strangely enough, your lyric snippet reminds me one of the very first songs I wrote.
The words aren't mine - it was a poem we had to learn at school so I put a tune on it to help remember the lines:
Every Thursday morning before we're quite awake
Without the slightest warning the house begins to shake
With a biff bang, biff bang bash
It's the dustman who begins (bang bash)
To empty all the bins
Of the rubbish and the trash
With a biff bang, biff bang, crash.
Yours is better. Shades of Spike Milligan - could be a missing verse of the Ying Tong Song or the Ning Nang Nong.
