tell me what I should be listening to, I might just do it (if I am not real busy, anyway)
Hello folks, jingo here, the meek and small. I am in no way a musician, don't know squat about recording, represent no one or no thing, and am not too terribly bright, either. I do like to hear some good music for casual, recreational purposes, though (I am not a critic, historian or documentarian - let's face it folks, I ain't working with much here).
A few years ago I spent a lot of time listening to independant / unsigned (whatever the proper term is) music. I would like to ease back into it a little bit. I will browse around but I am pretty lazy, uh, I mean pretty BUSY so I tend to like recomendations when I can get them.
I tend to lean towards heavy / melodic / classic rock in a Black Sabbath, Deep Purple direction, but I am pretty easy - power pop, Americana, country, boogie, blues are fine by me. I like guitars, if it's got a guitar it's I'm in, at least for a test spin. Dance and techno are not for me, as I am old and fat - sue me, whatever.
I am listening to Tenth Planet right now, I think that is some good stuff (Tony Iommi award winning stuff, apparently). If you have something you would like for me to listen to, please let me know - if I am not busy or taking a piss or a nap or something I'll check it out.
There are prolly some rules I should go read, I may be out of line here. If so, I am sorry (yeah, right, real sorry, I am so sorry, excuse me for mis-typing on a web page, sheesh)

Thanks, Blue Voodoo. I will give it a try. I went straight to the Blue Voodoo for now page, Texas Speed Trap - loved it. I am beer drinking (which should come as NO SUPRISE TO ANYONE, trust me on this) and it is perfect. Prolly going to sit here and listen to a few more. When I get drunk I have been known to actually buy stuff as well....

Ok, first off, listen to your mother, she's usually right!
Secondly, listen to me, the word is PROBABLY....not PROLLY.....
And finally, try "the Code", Jesse Adams, Jeff Allen Myers, and too many others to list. There's a world of good music in here, a veritable beggars feast....enjoy!

Here's a station that might be in your ballpark.
Here's one that isn't hardrock but has a lot of good songs.
Oh and I also just moved the best stuff I've done in recent years onto my page, guaranteed futuristic rock for ya. :) http://iacmusic.com/fathertime
you should try out the station system here, it's really the best there is, by far.

Of course, you should listen to ME. Because, you know, I pretty much rule.
But, then again, there is a lot of other great music on here, too! And, I do have some pretty cool stations with a lot of folks on there.
Look for my The Good Stuff stations.
Like this one (the original), and all the others that are its sisters (four in all).
Welcome aboard.

Thanks, folks. I really appreciate you enabling my laziness.
Kurt - I prolly should try listening to my mother. I am fairly sure she can't play worth a flip, but what the heck - she will prolly fix a pot roast making me a well fed WINNA. However - I am afraid that even if she can rock out I would be so worried that she might break a hip or something that it would be a HUGE buzzkill, but I am willing to try it (if you say so....)
FT - I have been browsing around the station stuff, looks like it could be fun. Thanks for the tip. I listened for a while, then switched to the one the kindly Steve doth offer, which had some interesting stuff. I will Hop on Pop (that sounds kinda "off" and prolly illegal in most states) and do Larree (also sounds strange, not tthat there is anything wrong with that) later on.
I saw Stephen John pop up as "new" when I first started browsing this forum and saw some positive comments right away. I will definitely check it out before I pass out or go to sleep (same difference, cept for the night terrors)
love you

Welcome to iac and thanks for being into the music. It's always worth trying some of our music, many people respond positively to it, although it is not everybody's cup of tea... we call it cosmic world fusion. Give it a listen, you never know :)
