Played my first open mic in quite some time
I haven't performed live for a couple of years now due to getting my MFA. But I heard of an open mic at a nice little corner bar up the road. It was mainly a boy's club - the bar lined with men drinking pints, with only my girlfriend, the bartender and one female patron in attendance to represent the fairer sex. But it was a friendly, responsive crowd, and though the sound system was pretty bad, it was nice to get out there and try some of the new material.
I luckily followed two young men who were not bad, but not very confident or experienced, so that made me look extra good. They do it every Tuesday night, so I may make a habit of it. I can walk there from my house.
Sure would be fun to get a band together again. I miss singing harmonies and ripping guitar solos. And drums! And just the camaraderie.

Good on you Tom, Keep it up!!
I did a lot of live playing in the Seventies as I was in a very busy band, but only one open mike in N.Y.C. recently. I would like to do more but as I don't play guitar it can be difficult, however someone gave me their old Korg SP100 so I now have a keyboard!!
I still have to overcome the fact that I don't like leaving my wife at home alone at night...
Ciao,
Vincenzo
