My first live gig in a while
Anybody near Seattle, I'll be playing 2 hours worth of original tunes at Enlighten Cafe in Ballard (beer and wine, too) Saturday, January 7th, 8-10pm.
I used to just throw in my songs in the middle of cover sets - this will be the first time in all my years that I'm doing a gig with all original material! I'm pretty excited about that! I've had to actually re-learn a lot of my own songs which I'd written, recorded and then forgotten about. I wish you all could be there!

Maybe you could have somebody take a video of the gig!

I would love to be there if I could Tom, you've got some great original tunes, plenty enough for half a dozen full sets. Blow the covers off! :).

Just thought I'd give you a little feedback from my gig. I had such a killer time playing just what I wanted, not worrying about what I thought the audience wanted. And they liked it! Fit in about 40 tunes with little bits of commentary (not too much, I hope). The venue had perfect acoustics, so my lyrics could be understood, which is important to me. It was nice to get some people saying that they liked the lyrics. Great stage with my back to the window (too bad I don't have a nicer butt - might've brought more people in). There were about 30 people there - not a huge crowd, but a good one. Apparently I went over well, because I'm playing there again in April. Planning on finding more little places like this this year.

Congrats, Tom. Try to get a friend to video your next performance and post it on the site.
They could use a cheap Flip camcorder which is actually pretty good quality (1080P HD) I can't tell you how much I regret not documenting all the gigs I did over the years. Time goes by so quickly and before you know it, the future is the present. It's time to archive the history of your life while you can.
Like an athlete, you can study your performance and what you're doing right and wrong.
.....no ifs ands or butts!

awesome Tom. I love your tunes, original, quirky, catchy. Easy to see how the audience appreciated it

Thanks. I'll see if I can find someone to videotape a few tunes for my next gig. It would be fun to share. One comment I really appreciated was from a co-worker who had only heard my recordings before, who said that I was way better in person. I'm realizing that my not-so-great recording skills can sometimes take away from the goodness of the actual song. Sometimes just the bare-bones is best.
