The MonLisa Twins
I'm late to the party here, but I have just been listening to the MonaLisa Twins, and it made me appreciate Indie Music in general. I regularly listen to college radio, and though I'm forever hearing new bands, I'm hearing the same old ideas thrashed about in various ways. It is rare that anything startles me with its freshness. And then I tune in to IMC and right away I hear two extremely clear and similar voices singing thoughtful harmonies against some deft guitar playing in a catchy-in-a-good-way style. The MonaLisa Twins are on my radar. I like music that is sung with a smile. You can hear happiness in their voices.
I thought back to all the male duets that came to mind - Simon and Garfunkel, Loggins and Messina, Hall and Oates, The Everly Brothers, Seals and Croft, to name a few - but I couldn't really think of any instances of famous women duets. The Indigo Girls, and Heart, sort of, but they weren't just duets. Why is this? I would love to hear your point of view on why there aren't more female duets.
But I really just wanted to plug The Mona Lisa Twins. Great listening.

Nice to see you around again, Tom. yes the MLT are actually quite the indie phenomenon, their fanbase is as fervent as a mini version of Beatlemania. Have you looked at their youtube presence, it's pretty incredible.

Hi Tom! Cool you found the MonaLisa Twins! I found them quite by chance on YouTube on 4/2/16 looking for a cover of "When I'm 64" for my kid brother Tom, who was turning that age the next day. On their FB page, they just started a countdown yesterday of 5, and 4 today, 3 tomorrow. We think it is a countdown to the new album, or at least the pre-sale of it! You are joining the party just at the right time!
Check out my IMP station "Groovy and 60's Style." I have worked on it since January and it now has 103 songs from almost 40 artists. MLT is my featured artist and I received direct permission to use their photo from their step-mum and manager Michaela. Their dad, Rudi aka Rudolph had a professional recording studio in their home in Austria since the girls were babies. They all moved to Liverpool in 2014. He is a creative genius and a tri-writer with his daughters of their originals.
The fan club is called Intergalactic and Scott and Evie came over there in January and told us about IMP. I immediately recognized IMP as one of the best ways to promote MLT. But not just them! By identifying some of the greatest IMP artists, and adding to my station, I now have a world-wide IMP ranking of #3. I am about to roll it out across America and into Latin America via e-mail. And it will go into Europe via IMP and IFC, the MLT fan club. Please check it out! The first 4 songs on my station are my 4 fave MLT songs in descending order, #1 being first.
Enjoy Tom!!!
P.S. I just saw you are an indie artist here as well and I WILL be listening to your music!!!

Tom, perfectly said, mate:
"A catchy-in-a-good-way style. Music that is sung with a smile. You can hear happiness in their voices."
That just about sums up MLT! And whoever can write music like that, will always have my ears open for it. :D
