I Need a Delete Button in My Head
If you're like me, you've got an awful lot of music swimming around in your head, not all of it welcome. I've had a 70's TV theme in my head for a while now - just wish I could press a button and delete it. And so many random tunes pop into my head during my day, and I rarely can figure out where they come from and what spurs them. Just wanna hit "delete." Maybe if I could delete the unwanted files from my head, it would free memory that would be useful elsewhere.

Replace it with another song, then another, that's the only way to extract one like that. I had the theme of George of the Jungle running thru my head for 2 weeks, it was driving me crazy til I replaced it with the song In A Big Country.

Maybe it's because so many tunes these days are unmemorable with fewer earworm riffs. I know someone who is deaf, can't hear music now but his head is still full of old songs he used to hear and love :( But a delete button would be useful, I agree

What annoys me most is when a TV jingle gets stuck in my head. I try to watch TV that is ad free like HBO and Showtime or streaming ad free shows on Roku, but when I resort to watching TV with ads I try to mute the commercials especially the ones with horrible soundtracks. But there have been too many times that I didn’t get to the mute button and the ad slips through and into my brain. The two biggest offenders are “Cars for kids” and “Jardiance”. (diabetes pill)
Sometimes my own songs get stuck in my head and that’s OK especially when it’s a new song I’m working on. Sometimes I will intentionally play a song in my head to filter out the unwanted ones or to just relax. That being said, the brain is a miraculous radio station, often controlled by a mysterious and
unknown DJ. :-)

The thing about memory is that as we age it wanes more and more. So, those tunes that have annoyed you for many years or maybe even minutes will all seem fresh and new cause you can't remember them anymore. I don't need a delete button I need a "remind me what this shit is" button. Also a "fuck it" button when I can't remember how to properly play one of my instruments. Plus, a "whatever fits works" button for when I can't remember lyrics on stage. Finally, a "welcome to my world" button for whenever another musician lives past 70. I need lots damn buttons man.
