hi rebecca, nice to meet you through IAC. love the tunes you've got posted. very cool article in the New Yorker too. funny and touching.
regarding lyrics, i agree with your husband (quoting): “One of the things Dave taught me about writing is to try not to go for the obvious. You don’t want to the listener to beat you to the punch line of the rhyme."
Like when I hear the word "heart" at the end of a line, I just know that 9 times out of 10, the rhyming line will be "apart" or "start". It's never "cart" or "mart" or "some guy named bart" or whatever. no excuse for lazy rhyming, unless you're going for a certain "rock classic" feel i suppose. that is, unless it's a deliberate choice.
