rIACin The Sun Project
Okay I agree....now we know we have an IAC MYSPACE PAGE

Now we know thanks to Ash that WE HAVE A MYSPACE PAGE, who is the administrator? Do we know? Whatabout a facebook page and a twitter page?

If we do not have a IAC Twitter Page, we need to start one to drive Traffic this way...I wish I had time to administer a page...Let's see if IAC admin will start a page that we all can subscribe too...

Let's startt talking about the next move on the agenda to grow BIGGER here @ IAC.

Gonna post this again under a new rIACin The Sun blog.

Let's check out a few statistics...

1) As of today 10/7/09 Juliette Lewis' IAC HOME PAGE has 3646 views.
2) As of today 10/12/09 Juliette Lewis' IAC HOME PAGE has 3801 views

3) By focusing a campaign, we were able to raise views of an artist's page by 155 views or about 4%

Now this isn't a HUGE number, but it shows that we DO HAVE PARTICIPATION here at IAC...we just need to focus the energy towards a model that will help us grow as COnversatiopn Suicide mentioned above...let's all start suggesting items in this blog that could help IAC directly (and thus all of us indirectly) and we will discuss further.

1) IAC MySpace Page (Thanks ASH)

2) IAC Facebook Page

3) IAC Twitter

All can drive Traffic towards this great site!!! Let's discuss more!!!

Cheers Aimee

The stations here are under achieving in terms of their portability----

They can be put anywhere on the net----on Domain pages or Myspace ---anywhere that will support HTML----so if you love your station----transport it!!

Get it out working for IAC by placing it on "friends sites" across the web

another way of looking at promoting IAC !

You're so welcome! It's the very least I could have tried to contribute. heeh! I'm unsure who admin's the iac page over there now. I just helped out a teeny bit there a long time ago. Maybe if somebody emailed iac they would get you to the right person handling those things?

Scott and I still administer that page. You can write me at iacmusic@aol.com. We don't do much there anymore because as far as we can tell, nobody even reads the bulletins.

Hello Toby!

It occured to me that maybe you don't prefer what is trying to evolve here? Do you mind any of this? Really we wouldn't want to upset things here with something like this. It could be rubbing against the grain here somehow, something we're overlooking etc. Just thought I'd bring it up since you you stopped in this blog.

Blogs seem to be a great way to express ideas, etc...I know there are so many great minds here as writers, so I know we can all figure out the best way to evolve this site...This is something huge to remember...we should focus the energies here towards how to gain more members, views etc...the reason why I mentioned the OTHER social networking sites, is because I would like to put as my #1 Top Friend, IAC Homepage at particular site...people always want to see who your closest friend is...and in my case, I feel closest to those that have shown the most favorable response...i.e IACmusic.com...

Facebook wasn't always bigger than Myspace...same with Twitter...but in this day and age, advertising on a popular site draws eyeballs towards us...the day will come when MS, FB and/or Twtr will place a banner here...I guarantee it...

But only if OUR COMMUNITY grows...and gains eyeballs...

Just like the music business...we have to make it happen ourselves...nobody is gonna give it to us...

Let's discuss the best method and nail it...we already saw what a little focus could achieve...let's continue this pep rally...

Oh hello Aimee! We must have been posting at the same time. hahah!

I'm unfamiliar with the places you mention, I know the names for sure! My life was left behind a couple years ago and I'm trying to catch up to the net train fast as I can dragging myself by my ponytail. I can create a page on the places you mentioned and request your friendships.

I laughed at what Toby said, cuz I can barely get myspace to load on my computer. Toby! give them better code! hahaah! Not!

We have a link back to our IAC page on the links section of our web site - but it seems that not everyone does this simple, but highly effective, thing... so come on people, if you are serious about promoting IAC and you have your own domain then you should link it back to your IAC artist page!!! So many artists just link to their myspace, or facebook, but not back to iac.

From personal experience, the absolute BEST way to bring traffic HERE, from your myspace, is to GIVEUP on the Myspace built-in music player, and INSTEAD stream KIAC music from your MYSPACE.

We currently stream our tunes on IAC, from Myspace, and have been for almost 2 years. It brings traffic, and helps gain listeners, helps with charting, etc.

I also stream our tunes on IAC from our band's .COM page. Not a big deal, because most potential listeners out there, don't even give the .com site you set up a look these days. That's thanks to Myspace, etc., as the sites being currently considered as THE place for web access to unknown/indie bands.

I haven't tried ONE idea myself yet, and that is to stream your IAC Radio Stations from every website you can, to help MULTIPLE artists generate listens to their tunes, AND to help yourself and the site overall, at the same time.

It's now on my list of things to do. Our future record label (romulus x records uk) already does this from myspace, etc., for THEIR IAC stations.

I saw that - still trying to figure out how you did it. I can't get it to work on mine.

In terms of cross-promotion I've been meaning to suggest for a while that we all admire each other on our Facebook and ReverbNation pages and places like that.

It may seem a bit incestuous on the surface, but apart from boosting each other's fan count it increases the chance of people coming back to IAC to find out more. Especially if the player is getting seen more often.

Since there wasn't one, I've just started a Facebook group and invited the very few of my facebook friends I know also to be on IAC. It might be a useful rallying point on facebook if people join it and invite their other IAC member friends to do the same.

btw - I don't have time to be a hands-on administrator so I'm hoping that it will pretty much run itself. There doesn't seem to be very much to it. If anyone does want to be the administrator, join the group and let me know.

I'm curious, Aimee, about the rIACin tag - sounds a bit close to a deadly poison... I seem to remember a spy getting stabbed with a ricin-spiked umbrella at a London tube station long ago. What's the rIACin in this case - is it an American thing like radio stations beginning with K and W or something like that?

Love ya Woodstock! Haa haa....

I'll jump in on this one, since I've been payin' attention (it's the only thing I can pay right about now....)

rIACin in the Sun, is a reference to what Aimee was originally calling her ideas for getting the IAC name out there, with Film Star Julliete Lewis' Projects.

It's based on that age old american play, "Raisin in The Sun", a groundbreaker for EARLY advances in awareness about African American culture, and a contributor to the GREAT literature that led to the '65 Civil Rights Act.
The original work from the early 1900's called "Raisin in The Sun", unfortunately had showings throughout the U.S.A. with White Actors playing the Black roles.

We've come a LONG way baby! "rIACin" is just a play on RAISIN.

Simple enough? tee heee....

-don't mind me, my only living Granpa, who's name is Francis Sprout, is a Black History and African American Studies Professor.... It's a LOONNGG story, but that was, and still is, one of my FAVOURITE areas of study.

Anyway the iac.com facebook group now has 15 members.

Currantly it's available for people to use as a handy page of shortcuts back here or to NTP, and it has the potential to do more if people use it.

Without input it will shrivel like a small grape drying in the sun.

So......what you really want is a bunch of plays due to people accidentally opening your page and causing the IAC autoplayer to start so you can get some cash from the autoplays (what is it. .001 cents?) Man, you're available cheap. What would you do for a dollar?

That's WAAAAY COOL about your Granpa Phlegm. took some African American Studies in Film & Social Experiences at The Colorado College back in the day. As God is my witness, Dorothy Dandridge( movie "Rasin In The Sun"). She was something like my Granddad's cousin. I remember doing a report on her in 8th grade. My Grandad had a copy of her from the cover of "Ebony". She was from the Cleveland area... When I first heard the name of the IAC project, it put a smile on my face because of the fact...

I agree with comment made by Conversation Suicide on Dirge's blog about the necessity for an artist and/or band to break big and drive traffic here to IAC.

There was an interesting article on the news the other night where someone said we should do away with anti-trust laws - allow me to ellaborate...As you all are probably aware, anti-trust legislation was first created to stop oil/cattle/railroad companies from gaining a monopoly back in the day...and the laws, when enforced (i.e. Microsoft, Polaroid, etc) are somewhat effective and necessary...even though ANTITRUST LEGISLATION DOES NOT apply to healthcare insurance companies for what reason I cannot comprehend and allows insurrers to set prices and rules which raise cost to us...argh...

Anyway, back on topic, someone raised an interesting point the other day on the news which directly speaks to IACmusic...they said that we should repeal antitrust legislation because in this day and age, what appears to be a monopoly, is VERY QUICKLY ouotgrown via the internet...

Example - Myspace appeared to be the monopoly, then Facebook overshadowed it - only to be superceded by Twitter...which will become obsolete by IAC MUSIC...or atleast with the proper marketing as the site already has factors, much better than all of those sites put together.

THE POINT - Conversation Suicide on Dirge's blog is right on the money...we need something to "explode - like a raisin in the sun" and drive traffic here to IAC...

As we all know, artists already in the mainstream have already long forgotten about 'little sites with heart' that support them...but perhaps, OUR CONTEST could be the mechanism that achieves success for our first batch of 12 artists (winners)...maybe we should sell a CD with all the winning songs available exclusively here at IAC...OR...

Amazon's revenue is up 69% so we could sell it there as they obviously have high traffic...OR

Starbuck's/HEAR music...they would (literally) eat-up this project at the register while buying coffee and could be a great marketing tool for us...remember guys...digital is great for marketing and sales...BUT PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION still exists...let's discuss further a compilation CD of winners...and even a compilation CD maybe evry month - it's so easy to do with the tools provided here at IAC...

xoxo

I thought Starbucks discontinued their music label projects. Aimee, IAC has already talked about the finalists in the contest in each genre will have their music put on CD. How about IAC puts out the different genre finalists CD out each month? A different genre or two for sale coming out each month? Have the winners of each genre on the, ie."Best Of IAC '09" come out at the end of the year. That would be amazing! It would get more people to enter the contests each year, bringing in new talent to be put on winning genre CDs every month each year from the contest...It would stay continuous all year around that way...
