Thanks for bringing this to the fore Doug,I am all for free speech, it is important that free speech be given to all and no one should be forbidden to express themselves or their beliefs or points of view , but first it be good that you get your facts straightened out as indicated in the above caption you supplied with the photo.

Coulter was scheduled to speak before an audience gathered at the University of Ottawa’s Marion Hall Tuesday evening. Instead, security concerns raised by the university kept the Republican firebrand from speaking. Organizers pulled the plug on the speaking engagement because there were just too many people — too many of whom were just too rowdy. “At a university, instead of free speech, censorship,” said Ezra Levant, a Canadian conservative writer, lawyer and blogger who was scheduled to introduce Coulter. Coulter was at the university for the second stop of her Canadian speaking tour to dish on political correctness, media bias and freedom of speech. Police were called by the university to assist after students of all political stripes descended upon the auditorium to hear the talk — some of them lining up for more than two hours in the rain — only for it to be cancelled a half-hour after it was due to begin. More than 2,000 people tried to get into the event, several times the capacity of the venue. “We were called to ensure the crowd left in an orderly fashion,” said Ottawa police Sgt. Rob Gilchrist. No arrests were made and no injuries were reported. Hundreds of people pooled into the lobby in an attempt to get into the auditorium. Sorry, Bryon. No offense meant to Canada. I love Canada. Not to mention the disproportionate amount of great music that comes from there.

But in Canada, isn't it true that free speech is somewhat more limited than it is in the United States, where it's part of the fabric of the institution of the nation? And possibly in part because of this, you have a surfeit of middle management types excessively concerned about reining it in - like the administrator at the college where Coulter was to speak who sent her a note in advance warning her to tone it down.

My caption was meant to be ironic. It looks like the concerned students used their own hate speech to prevent a speaker they accused of hate speech from speaking.

And not just in Canada but in the United States as well, we know that when it comes to free speech, leftists and rightists are equal, but leftists are more equal than rightists.

The real winner in the incident was Ann Coulter. She made her point without even having to say anything.

Doug , you were right , Anne Coulter did her thing and spread the gospel of her message without even speaking. She got more coverage then she deserved.
I thought I would investigate further about her background,Doug honestly I was not completely aware of how ignorant I was of her exploits and past accomplishments er, maybe not accomplishments, she better not travel outside of the US anymore , anyways, so I reviewed some of her previous presentations at other institutions and speaking engagements. she has left behind quite a legacy and a trail of some nasty comments. i am all for free speech but I consider her more along the lines of free hate speech in some of the things she has said. so honestly I cant support her being in Canada spreading such vitriolic ripping statements that are dripping with deep prejudice towards some of ethnic groups many of whom I admire.

I hear ya Doug, but still it is some stinging stuff she throws out there even if it is done in jest or as a part of her show , we have to be circumspect in what we do, some people could go ballistic hearing this type of thing. nonetheless, if it makes her popular and engages people and makes a place for her in history then more power to her, plus the decent revenue stream she pulls in.
She is in Calgary Alberta now, so there i think being kinda like the Texas of the north she should fit right in, the right wing red necks they are ,,,,,best bryon
