All the stations on vacation??
Hey all, trying to get my songs added to a few more stations.. No adds in the last five days. Is that just the general ebb and flow of IAC or is there something else I should be doing besides just leaving a message in "shout"? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Keith,

Leaving messages doesn't hurt but it doesn't help much either. In general there is no magic bullet for getting station adds. Most station managers search for new songs that have just been added because a large portion of the best songs have already been taken. Usually they want to be the first to add a new great song. The more songs you have and the more new ones you post, the more chance a manager will add one of your songs. Since you only have two songs, there aren't many options to choose from. It's not easy to get an add as managers have very specific needs and tastes and of course they all want really exceptional songs. There is no "ebb and flow" to station adds. It's pretty much random. Going several months or even longer without an add is not unusual but as I mentioned, the more new songs you post, the more chances you have of being added. With only two songs to choose from, your odds of getting many adds are slim. I know it's a little
discouraging but I'm just giving you the facts as I see them. Good luck!

The more interest you show round IAC in general - the more of other people's music you listen to and make comments on rather than just promote your own the more people will take an interest just like in "real" life. Most of the station managers are also artists and the more you get involved with the community the more people will get involved with you. Also, it's true that the more songs you put up the better. I am still surprise when someone adds one of my less popular or obscure songs as it suits a certain station more than others.

Personally I get as much pleasure, if not more - from searching for great tracks for my three stations here than just uploading my own tracks.

Don't be discouraged but it's definitely more than just leaving shouts to get your music heard that gets you really noticed round here.

Hi Keith,

I totally agree with what Richard and Chandra have said. I just want to add that having or not having a song added to a station does not mean anything about the quality of the song or production, sometimes it is just a matter of station managers and songs finding each other at the right time.

I for one listened to 'Coffee house' and it struck a chord with me. I like the sound and the feeling.

Ciao,

Vincenzo

All my stations are theme and genre based bands and artists don't just get on because i like them.

If I want a station to play one of my songs, I stop by and ask. Can't hurt.
