How to Know? Or approach? It's my soul I want to feed
I am going to start with a new group of musicians tomorrow. I would say they are almost a band. They have been together for a year now and did not really have a leadsinger (the guitarist had been playing the part so far), heard my tracks and contacted me to be their frontman. They are far more rock & roll than PopiKoK is but I love the dirty pushing sound and I think my lyrics and voice will work well. I have total freedom to write all the lyrics and they will adjust the sound based on the way I sing as well as adjust the structure to the way I write songs.
What I want to know is how to approach a new venture like this so that all things are honest, fair, and open. I also want to make sure I get a proper feel of everyone and the set up to know if it's a good thing. Can anyone give me a few pointers or tips?
It does not have to be my band
I do not want to have total control
I want to know that everyone is listening and playing within the track and each other
I want the story/song/music told/performed properly
This is not the end of PopiKoK. I will be recording new tracks soon. But I would play, create, collaborate and or write songs everyday with many different artists if I had the chance.
