crap I've been thinkin' about
What makes up your life? I was thinking how many great players I've been able to watch in a life of following sports. Saw Unitas, Namath, Starr, Stabler, Montana, Bradshaw. Saw Aaron, Mantle, Frank and Brooks Robinson, saw Bob Gibson, Carlton, Maddox, Randy Johnson, Marichal.
Saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, got the 45 of I Wanna Hold Your Hand from my sister. It's been a pretty full life. Wrote and recorded lots of songs, had 27 #1 songs at mp3.com, just being around for the advent of the mp3 file was pretty cool.
Saw Obama elected president, and will soon see the first female president. Saw gays be allowed to get married.
Still somewhat vital now, I wonder what more is to come in my life?

Onward and upward I say.
Oh, it hurts.
I took a fall to the face, twice, (God wanted to make sure I got the message,
I got it, I got it, no third one please) and it's been a life-changing
event for me.
I won't even post the photo of me now here.
If you want to see what my face looks like presently,
you can see it (not a pretty sight sorry but I must warn you all)
at my American Lesley Jane site...
think I can still work out a link...

So for me, my days of pot smoking and drinking alcohol are behind me.
One makes me do the other, pot's had it's uses, but then I want
the alcohol, and sooner or later it gets me. I'm lucky to be alive.
I almost didn't make it home. That's enough hard lesson, I capitulate, Lord.
You Win.
Folks, I'm not here to tell you not to get high if you want,
Lord knows I did, me and my wife did, all our married life of 26 years...
and I continued doing so for now the three years since she died.
As of now though, these days are behind me.
I would say, please party with some measure of good sense,
and that was the problem for me, I didn't have any.
See if I can't make out better sober. Can't possibly be worse.
Thank you.
My name is Lesley.
My band is BEATLESEX.
Oh yes we just put out a couple of records,
the ALJ one is relatively new,
and the B'sex one is actually quite old by now,
recorded in a farmhouse in Ellenburg NY, in
the year 2000. Or 2001. Around then...
God Bless And Keep You All.

PS...
Sorry Folks, I just realized you can see the picture
in the thumbnail photo here,
it is worse full-sized though, pretty gnarly.
Also.
Scott.
You are far more talented than you seem to realize. Yes, I very much do feel this way.
I think you shall keep making records, getting better all the time.
Which is what I shall also strive to do.

Me again. From the Band site this time....
I wanted also to say, Scott,
I am terribly jealous! You saw them, when it happened on Ed Sullivan.
I'm a year or two younger than you I guess; it was past my bedtime!
The next day though, I knew things had changed.
The 'big kids' were standing on benches playing their stickball bats
as though they were guitars, singing I Want To Hold Your Hand.
The world would never again be the same.

Let me tell you about that. I remember I was sitting at Sunday dinner and the subject came up that the Beatles were going to be on TV that night. This is the first I'd ever heard the name Beatles. My sister seemed very excited. My mom was also aware of what this event seemed to mean. This was somehow going to be an event in our household, the only thing I can remember that compared was when we landed on the moon. Anyway I was sitting on the sofa to the left of the TV when the show came around hours later. I remember when it started you could barely hear any music over the screaming, what you did hear was very cool though.
The next couple nights we drove around my hometown of York PA looking to buy a Beatle wig for my sister but they were all sold out. We did eventually get one a few weeks later though. A month or so later my sister gave me the 45 when she bought the album. I played it so much, especially I Saw Her Standing There (still have the 45). At the time the only 45s I had to play were Hounddog, Dominique, and I Saw Esau sittin' on a Seesaw. :)

Very cool indeed.
So then at the time it was an event in your household never before known to you?
The moon landing was still a couple years off.
And you might have been too young to catch Elvis, I'm thinkin' so.
I did get to experience it to some degree,
I've of course since, many times seen performances from the Ed Sullivan
show, at one time I had a video tape of all their performances, that
some guy who worked at Viacom managed to run off for me...
but most interesting, was when I was a young man, in my 20s,
I went to Manhattan's Museum of Broadcasting,
and I got to see, the exact broadcast, as it aired,
commercials and all... been a while since I'd seen a "Kent" commercial....
and it was stunning.
But you got it over me, you saw it happening live. You win.

Godamm, comma, Lesley! Did you pass out and faceplant a doorknob?
Looks like it hurts turrible!
Incidentally, I saw the Beatles in Memphis, the afternoon show before the evening show where the cherry bomb went off and convinced them to never tour again. I had a press pass given to me by my Dad's friend, the local newspaper owner, but the bastids still didn't let me in for the news conference. Ask John if he still remembers me from the show :) I was the one in the back sitting next to my sister who had wet the seat and was screaming and wailing at him.

Wow, Lesley. Hope you heal fast, man! Do take it easy.

The cherry bomb show, huh?
No kidding.
That the one where John heard it and dropped
to the stage for cover, checking himself to see if he'd been shot?
I'd heard of that one.
Thank you for the well-wishes, Folks.
John actually got me to help him make a record yesterday,
got me out of bed to do it, I didn't want to, but saying no to John
is like saying no to a hungry cat, cat's back in five minutes meowing again.
So we made the record, and it came out well, better than I expected
under the circumstances certainly...
And I gotta admit, though I didn't wanna do it at the onset,
by the time it was done I was glad I did, the work seemed to expedite
the healing process. I'm healing pretty quickly, I'm glad and thankful to say.
Bless you All.
