Will IMP usher in the next Beatlemania?
The MonaLisa Twins are obviously huge on this site. I've volunteered IMP to host a listening party for their upcoming new record. I believe the MLT are exactly the kind of band, having started on the songwriting end a little later into their music, who could make an enormous leap in their second record. Since I got into indie music as a promoter of such, I haven't seen a band more fit, whose fans are more frenzied, to make a huge leap as them. I seriously can imagine when they eventually come to America that the outpouring of love from the States will be major.
I hope we're a part of that. The Twins are so deserving.

Not the same as back in the day FT as Beatlemania i admit they are top drawer. but those comparisons you make will never be accomplished in the same way

I don't see everyone dropping what they are doing and all getting behind one band like that ever again. I like MLT, too. They have great potential. And they could be hugely successful. But music in its current form with all of its many genres needs a lot more than a pop band to have that kind of impact.

Not in the same way, Bryon.
Lightning may someday happen. We shall see.

The biggest problem with music is that all of the shock value in music has been used up. All the lyrical shock value of cursing, violence, and sex, has been used up. So the envelope cannot be pushed any further. Music almost has to be stripped bare of all digitization and electrocution to have any kind of "shock" value today.

Goodness.
Well I hope it's all working by Monday,
I'll even settle for Tuesday,
you've got me curious now to see what the fan fare is all about here...
that said, don't you know, none of their songs, would play,
during this 'transition' period. Could not get a one to play.
So, once it's working again, I intend to go listen to each and every song
they have here. Do they play live? Sounds like they do, it really helps
a band when they play live, bit harder when you just put out records. This I know.

Yes they play live, recently had a month-long stand at the new Cavern Club.
Check them out on youtube, they cover a lot of Beatles songs and other 60s songs along with their originals.

Yes. I just did manage to find some of their videos...
including a version they did of If I Fell which makes us want to do one...
they did another one which I think we have covered already You're Going To Lose That Girl... well I suspect you may be right about this magical pair. Just a bit phenomenal, just a bit. Makes me doubly determined to make better records. In a perfect world, I'd love to find out that BEATLESEX is one of their influences, and yeah, I would say that wouldn't I. And now having said that, I'd be happy if they'd ever even heard of us. And even that doesn't really matter.
We're all on the same team, the people trying to keep rock relevant.
Perhaps we should see if they need additional musicians. I'm sort of kidding.
We'd join, but we're old and cranky and they wouldn't have us.
None the less, realizing that old and cranky is no match for young, exceedingly talented, pretty and charismatic, I have to concede,
The Mona Lisa Twins Are The Next Big Thing;
They are in fact phenomenally great...
I'm not only humbled, I signed up for their mailing list.
Still going to try to make better records though, they just raised the bar, they did.
I wanna be just like them when I grow up,
Love, ~Lesley Jane, Captain of the Good Ship BEATLESEX.
(now humbled fat and small, quietly sipping coffee)
PS... ironically, our latest B'sex record,
"Every Day Is Judgement Day" (which is actually quite good, please give it a chance then) was conceived, orbiting the planet... (via a youtube International Space Station cam live stream)... then I see them also orbiting the world
in one of their videos and original songs... and they didn't even
need space suits. Come 'round to teach a bunch of old men what we're
doing wrong have you. That'll sort us out won't it.
