Should artists continue to promote their older material?
Just want to hear your opinions on this.

Yes! Promote your older material. Of course it's good to be selective about what you choose to bring back but generally a good song tends to stand the the test of time.
If people have never heard a certain old song of yours then it's "new" to them although some songs are more "timeless" than others. That's why it's important to choose wisely when resurrecting past songs. Songs I wrote years ago have been very good to me in the present day. It's like chicken soup. It won't cure a cold but it can't hurt!

I resurrected some songs from quite a few years ago recently, redid them all hired musicians and a producer and got them off to radio and other places. so really they are older songs, but completely redesigned

Paul McCartney seems to still promote his stuff from the 60's. I still recall a couple or three of them whenever I hear them!

Yes, of course.
And does "old material" mean anyway? Music doesn't age. It just changes.
I've always found it an extremely weird concept, how people from my generation (I was born in 1979) tend to think music gets old. There's no such thing as "old music".

Yes, Christomir... EXACTLY! What does the word "new" imply anyway(whenever you "HEAR" it)... "knew"... as in known? Whenever you "here" something(like bring it "here" with thine ear) for the "first time" it is always "NEW" and(as you listen) becomes "kNEW" too... so YES! Of Course! There are very many "VIRGIN" ears still available(for consumption?)! None of them having ever so much as touched a single drop of what we have offered on the site. Every song is "taking a swing" and "whenever the right ears hear" it becomes a "hit"(to them at that time). If I think or feel of a song as being worthless I wouldn't dare post it(probably some differing opinions on this by those who have actually listened to our music. haha!). But just because someone "disagrees" with my opinion doesn't make either them or me "wrong". We can and are BOTH RIGHT! It depends upon "your" value system. It is what it is. You cannot and should not EXPECT the Koalas to change their diet just because the hyenas have such a blast eating baby goats. To each his own.
Damn that was "long-winded".
The Short Answer:
YES! YES! YES!

Ha ha; maybe Father Time meant to say "earlier material." I guess that Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, etc. etc. etc. don't need to promote their "old" stuff anymore. These original indies all have plenty of fans to do so!
