Anybody have any bouts with insanity they want to talk about?

I'm having one for several months now. I don't know why exactly. I seem to have a handle on my life somewhat but emotionally I just can't keep it together. It might have to do with some late night drinking I've been doing.. by myself.. I just want to let go, I don't want to focus on anything other than what I feel like focusing on. The world is an extremely weird place. There are people who will lead you on about your dreams, or things you need for one reason or another, practically promise you things with absolutely no intention of following through. Then they seem surprised when you come at them desperate for them to deliver. Then there are these friends you don't expect much from that come thru when you least expect it, what's the deal with that?

There's people you hardly deal with at all and one day you wake up realizing they mean a lot to you, that you'd do anything for them. Where did that come from? There are friends you know for certain if you start up certain roads with them you will wish you didn't but you do it anyway. Why?

You try to write songs as a creative outlet, you got what seems to be a good idea, you get it done and suddenly it feels like you didn't get anywhere. Or, you're finishing up a project, you go to add this one little thing and it comes out brilliant when you were barely trying. How come that happens, of all things?

You sit back one night and you think to yourself, I've been in this exact place so many times before, why do they call this living? You want to give up and you're about at the end of your wick yet ultimately you know your spirit is overpowering, you're on permanent shine, you know you're where you need to be but you're so fucking lost you don't know who you are even.

Don't worry about me, I'm only humid.

What you have described does not really sound like insanity.
Sounds like life. Which, okay, is one confusing mofo at times. True that.

The more you look at stuff, the more you see, and the more you listen,
the more you hear. Paying attention helps. Be surprised how few do that.

hey "IMP", aka dipshit..

You only started this thread to get attention. I know it, you know it, the whole court system knows it. You ain't nutty, you're just lonely. Find a soulmate, call your cousin, leave the blogging to the real artists.

You're not a very good shrink. What you said wasn't helpful to anyone.

Between "us" Artists, we know for a fact that we are somewhat """"""strange and not like everyone else types"""? This is part of the whole deal, you want attention, you must look weird and you must have something super, duper awesome to offer to the world? does that make sense? It is not and never will be about you ( you, means the one you really are inside your own head) it is always the one who is interpreting you, at that particular moment. Its complicated.

Indie Music Person,

no, he is not a very good shrink,
unless shrinks are supposed to be insulting degrading and most of all annoying.

Are you an Artist, Indie Music Person?
Because, as Zeeza reasonably points out,
the rules of 'crazy' are way different as they apply to 'Artists'...

The world is crazy. Incidentally.
Artists are crazy for a living, it's how we're wired up or something.

So, I ask, if you are an artist,
because, well, if you're a regular person,
well the stuff you're talkin' about here,
doesn't mean you're crazy,

it means you have a habit of doing this thing,
I call 'thinking'.
Which is good, you're in a minority, but keep up the good work!

If you are an Artist, however....

man you're just gettin' started.

And on being an Artist,

there's basically two kinds of Artists,

those who do it mainly for others, and those who do it mainly
to follow their own vision of what art they wanna make
and what Artist they wanna be....

I prefer to do, stuff I like,
and I really don't give a damn if no one else likes it.

As I see it, the world itself more often than not,
doesn't even know what it wants.
So what, I'm supposed to chase after it,
like a fickle girlfriend who keeps walkin' away when the mood strikes?

Nah. I'll pass.

There's the crazy I gotta be just to be me.
There's another kind of crazy,
called 'engaging in pointless endeavor' which, to me, is the real crazy.

Why bother at that point.

No, Indie Music Person,
you're not crazy,

obviously the shrink is crazy as a bag of cat shit and canaries,
but you, are reasonably sane, believe it or not.

Hey Shrink,
be a good dipshit and run along and play in traffic,
on the expressway would be even better,

take a ball and jacks, see how many you can pick up
before a semi flattens your Devo-lookin' crazy ass.
