best friends and this sort of thing
I am the type of person that likes to have a best friend online, somebody who I can fill in on my day to day life. I'm also married with a family but don't really believe in this adage that your wife should be your best friend. My wife is too close to the situation to be a best friend, she's far too adversarial. I like having someone on my team. Maybe I'm strange, i don't know.

I prefer my wife. I mean, she's got tits that I can actually touch. Such an awesome human being who cares for me even though I'm a pig. She is the only person that is strong enough to make me yield. Bold enough to oppose me and gentle enough to help me heal from anything. She is my life partner and every adventure is so much better because of her. My best friend? Quite possibly my only friend. But she Rocks!

In the past people needed friends outside of family to listen and be objective. Then the internet happened and suddenly there was a whole load of 'friends' to share details with. I'm not sure the BFF idea is what it was. Online interaction has become the norm. Many people get a buzz from dramatizing situations when the family have lost interest.
