man this to me is the hardest one yet, I am stumped , totally the only one I think I will take a stab at is #4 since I remember their music, the troubles they had and the horrible tragedy that seemed to befall them, is it Badfinger? that is the best guess I can do. probably wrong since there are so many troubled bands and singers during that decade

For number 2, the only covers of Cat Stevens songs I can think of are "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart and "Changes" by Santana.
Number 3 has to be Al Green and "Take me to the River."
Gotta Google the rest.

Badfinger and Al Green are correct answers for #3 and #4.
I'm not familiar with Changes by Santana but it doesn't seem to qualify as a hit, only reaching #45 on US Rock Charts. Forever Young by Stewart was not written by Cat Stevens. from Wikipedia..
The structure of the lyrics in this song is very similar to a Bob Dylan song of the same title.[1] When this was realized, the song was then sent to Dylan, out of respect, asking whether he had a problem with it. The two men agreed to participate in the ownership of the song and share Stewart's royalties.[2]
Stewart wrote the song with two of his band members: guitarist Jim Cregan and keyboardist Kevin Savigar. Stewart told Mojo magazine in 1995 that he considered "Forever Young" to be one of his favorite songs and the reason for writing it was, "I love 'Forever Young', because that was a real heartfelt song about my kids. I suddenly realized I'd missed a good five years of Sean and Kimberly's life because I was so busy touring all the time. With these kids now I don't make that mistake- I take them on tour with me, so I can watch them grow up. So that's another favorite. Unfortunately, it wasn't a big hit in England, but it's like a national anthem here (America)".[3]

Any more guesses on 1, 2, or 5? I think 1 and 5 are kind of easy, when I tell you all the answers you'll put a hand to the forehead.
