song lyric game
What song did this come from? No googling
1. And if you want to be free, all you have to do is say so
2. Remember them basement parties, your brother's karate
3. I sing in silent harmony
4. Reading, writing and arithmetic
Are the branches of the learning tree
5. All I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
6. I really remember you when you drank my wine
7. You'd never do that to me
Would you, baby?

These songs were extremely popular which makes the task easier than if they were more obscure.

I have a photographic memory as well as an audiographic(?) memory. I played in SO many cover bands years ago that I had to know how to play every song out there as well as knowing the lyrics. Back in the stone(d) age before the internet the only way to get lyrics was to buy "fake books" from Colony Records in NYC that had chord charts and lyrics to all the popular songs of the day. I spent much time memorizing everything and it stuck with me all these years. When I see the lyric - I recognize what music it is linked to by singing the lyric until I get the melody right. The irony is that I often forget the words and music to my own songs! My short term memory sucks but fortunately or in some cases - unfortunately, I can remember everything about the past and exactly how I felt at the time or each experience or incident. It's both a blessing and a curse.
Actually I rarely google anything because I don't trust the veracity of most websites which are usually posted by non-experts who just want to pontificate or sell something. I used to google health related stuff
when my mom was sick and the info was so contradictory as to be totally ridiculous. Basically I mostly use my computer for IMP, e-mail. recording and lyric writing. I don't waste my time researching the best hamburger in town or using YELP to decide what dry cleaners to go to. ALL OPINIONS are totally subjective and have very little value in making decisions. Experiential trial and error is the best way to find out what you like or dislike. Sorry for the rant, but I can't sleep so I got up and found Quizmo!!
Thank you Mr Q!
