You can't be an artist unless
you have a reason for picking up your instrument.,

As a pianist, I would need to be a superhuman to pick up my instrument.

That would be instruments in my case. I pick them all up at least once a week. All except for my drum set that I only play occasionally as I have pretty much mastered drum programming and can no longer handle the pain of arthritis when I play. Like most of my instruments I was never that good at it anyway. i mean, I can play almost anything in the studio but live? I can only play my keys and sing at the same time. I don't play my horns much anymore either. Only for studio projects. But I sing everyday. I consider the voice to also be an instrument that requires daily tuning and exercise.

Art comes from the inside. Tools are just tools.

I think if you are an artist you can’t really not be one. You get miserable.

"Artist" = "Creator"
Whether by finger or word to use your thought to show and reveal what others do not see or know is an art in and of itself.
People tend to believe that others opinions determine what "Art" is though... "prejudiced" is what this be!
