doesn't really refute the point, does it?

If Dianne Warren wanted to give Lady Gaga a writer credit for tapping her foot it is their business. Linda Perry just sounds jealous and bitter.

Sounds to me like Warren was using GaGa to get publicity for the song or something, in which case why should she be up for an Oscar?

Dianne Warren does not need to use anyone for publicity. She is a top shelf songwriter. One of the most successful in the biz.

Russ, really , you have heard all those songs she has written or co-written, I haven't. that is a great catalog she has, and has a gift and an amazing penchant for songcrafting, she is so very skilled at what she does and who cant love Un-Break My Heart with it being sung by Toni Braxton, that is a great song!

Well to each their own but I've always considered her overrated, I just don't like any of her songs that I know of.

well I agree with your evaluation there Russ, we all have varying tastes. and that is the thing. I know that once I scrolled through the songs, maybe a handful I recalled as significant and ones that jogged my memory, still, she has scored out some nice songs of the ones I know and remember.

Linda Perry Apologizes , so much for this thread, means not much now, so it is now coming out that linda perry backs down from her ill advised comments
UPDATE: Monday, Jan. 18 (7:45 p.m. ET) - Perhaps there was stern talking-to involved, but in any case, Linda Perry is backing down from her earlier comments about Lady Gaga, writing on Twitter that she "made a mistake to comment" and offered her sincere apologies to Mother Monster.
In addition, she appears to have deleted the inflammatory tweets that kicked off the whole brouhaha in the first place.

I have to admit that I have not heard most of the songs on that list. But seriously. Look at the people she has written for. Look at the amazing list of collaborators she has worked with. It makes me want to start listening to her work more closely. I am sure it is not the music I listen to when I listen for me. My tastes are very eclectic. I like 12-tone and atonal and micro-tonal music. I can listen to Stockhausen compositions over and over like some kids listen to pop songs. But I will bet that I, we, all of us could learn something to make us a little bit better at what we do listening to and studying a songwriter with her credentials. No matter what style we play or how good we might believe, deep inside, that we are.

Well that is great news, Bryon. Glad she apologized. Because that was really, really stupid.

Linda Perry kinda made a jackass of herself with those comments, then retracting them, deleting all her twitter tweets on the subject. knee-jerk
and yes, we can learn a lot by listening to all kinds of music various styles, i enjoy east Indian music a lot and find that music so unusual and intriguing and eastern european folk music is quite engaging. My fav of course is based in classical, and jazz but like to experiment playing outside of the norm with sounds and ideas , trying to experiment more with different chordal ideas, voicings and altered chords

It still sounds like a hokey song credit to me. And some of those titles on that page for Warren are downright cringe-worthy.

This thread was not really about how Dianne Warren chooses to handle her business and her collaborator splits. This thread was not about the quality of Dianne Warren's songs, or if you or anyone else likes them or not. This thread was about Linda Perry being totally unprofessional and making a fool of herself. Showing her bitterness and her jealousy. And I am proud of Linda for apologizing and retracting her comments. I guess this news story is over.

Lady Gaga is HOT.
I'd give her a writers credit if she got so much as a 'boob print' on my song.
So, it seems hard for me to believe that anyone complained
about her getting a writer's credit for something, anything,
because, who in their right mind would wanna squelch
any involvement she might have had with their song?
