What prompts you to ask?

Melody seems to me, to be very well established in the world at large.
Most musical cultures outside of Europe and America, are mainly concerned with melody. Indian and Turkish classical music use intonations and scales that allow for very precisely detailed melodies unobtainable on a normal piano.

European music lessened the purity of melody, and harmony, by adopting the 12 tone equal temperament as standard intonation a hundred years or so ago.
A compromise that allows modulations into more key centers, at a cost of diminished melodic expressive possibilities.

I can almost see where a total loss of melody in some music genres might result from popular trends in some cultures, but worldwide, melody seems to be doing very nicely.

I don't hear too many attempts at original melodies lately.

As for original and nice melodies, that is something i try to do, most of the songs I have done are instrumental and that is what I prefer to do. not much of a lyricist.

Oh I don't know....

if your photograph is any fair indication,
you look like you can whistle a fine tune all the live long day, mate.

And that's all I have to say about that.

No, Hell No and "no" some more..........Without melody I would be lost and lonely. She is my first love and I will never stop loving her for the joy she gives me daily. She pops into my head and I display her through my voice and instrumentation. I cannot live without melody. Don't make me.....please! I'm begging ya!

Not as long as I live it won't.
I am not about to stop making melody.
