concerning Obama presidency....
Well,
There is this cartoon I stumbled upon, where a bunch of journalists carrying a heavy load called "racism luggage", are questioning hon. Barrack Obama on whether America is ready for a black president.
This was interesting, remembering the sad, near past, where great leaders like Martin Luther king, Malcolm X, etc gave their lives in order to shape the current society.
But this doesn't either mean that things are at their best. I have been to places in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia, etc, where caucasians were consciously, or unconsciously looking down on me, I guess probably because of my race. I have also been to places where there is just a "fear" between me and some caucasians. Well, I love caucasians, I love everybody, but I really wonder how the world will be if Obama becomes the next president of America.
Will this give "black" people power? Will it increase their say in the currently "white" society? I mean, will it shift the current balance of power?
Well, all in all, I will be intrigued if he becomes the next president. I don't know what you think, please let me know...........................

Sohnn .. I'll take a shot at responding here... I know that you and I don't always see eye to eye on matters of racism but that does not mean that I don't value your opinion and I hope that you will not dismiss mine without some thought either.... First off the press is run by the elite and much of the "racism luggage" that they refer to has been created by that same press... No I'm not a complete idiot... I know that racism does exist as well as many other forms of evil... but in your statement that caucasians were consciously, or unconsciously looking down on you, you guess probably because of your race, and that you also feel a fear between yourself and some whites, I ask you do you think that possibly because of past occurances you have had that you are "going in" to these meetings already expecting the worst ? I know that I have expierenced this fear from some black people and I can't help but feel that they are stereotyping me as one of the bad (white) guys. Those in power do a very good job at keeping racism in the forefront. The reason they do this is to purposely keep people apart and to keep their minds on mistrusting others instead of letting them come together to see what is really going on. As far as what will happen if Obama becomes the next president of America.... I say...not much... It matters not that he is black or white or green or purple... he is a member of the elite and if anyone is looking for a President to be their savior I'm afraid they are in for a rude awakening. I don't believe for one minute that we are living in a "white" society... We are living in an "elite" society... You could replace every top leader in this country with a black man and nothing would change... exept that we might see black mens faces on our currency... Anyway you ask for opinions so this is my take on things... Have a Great evening Sohnn

Well,
Yeah, the color of the skin really doesn't matter, its what the person really is that matters, but we can't forget the fact that the color shows something deeper, it is like a phenotype to a genotype, it expresses something inside- it represents the rich cultures. These cultural differences ought to be appreciated and not ignored. The Caucasians, the Asian Americans, the African Americans, etc, all have a rich cultural background, but very different from each other. If not appreciated, these differences appear as racism, because I won't be comfortable talking to a person from a different culture unless I understand, and appreciate their culture.
So yeah, it doesn't matter if people are purple, green, yellow, white, blue, brown, but these colors on the other hand represent a cultural difference that if not appreciated, will always hinder effective interaction.
This is what Obama might bring to the plate, he might raise awareness that cultural differences ought to be appreciated instead of ignored (by some people who keep saying that we are all the same and should therefore treat each other the same, we ought to appreciate our differences)...
But the good thing he has is that he is a bridge to the major cultures in America, the Caucasian and the African American, because his parents were from both.
Well, it will still be interesting if he wins.........................
