Just gotta go with the flow, bro. Heck, I just dropped my first track up here. Sure, it is an old track. But I don't think I have gotten more than three or four listens. I only listened once just to make sure it came out okay. Even if your latest is your best work ever today, you will do better work still. Rock on, and FU!

Larree. Make more records. Even if it's only voice and acoustic.
Dylan put himself on the stratosphere map with an album of acoustic stuff.
Think it was just called "Bob Dylan".

Push Yourself.
I'm not your Drill Sgt, I'm my own. Be your own Drill Sgt, Brother.
See the hill, take the hill.

Well I'm gonna have to listen to this one obviously.

Futility. Yeah I have had some experiences in my life which have probably
taught me a thing or two about futility.

Let's see whatcha got.

Cool.

Go Forth. Be Excellent. Be What You Are.

That's Why INDIE MUSIC PEOPLE.com Is The BEST.

This, is where you really Can Be Who You Are.

And Thrive.

No wonder why we're getting more traffic.

Don't feel futile, it'll get better. It already is.

Smile or I'll do a girly song, a real terrible one where you just moan 'noooo'.

Don't try me.

I have a loaded bag of optimism here, don't nobody fuck with me
or I will blow this thing OFF. Oh that soooo didn't sound right.

Hi I'm American Lesley Jane, also the Leader of BEATLESEX,
also known as Phil Dwinell on occasion,
also known as ELVIS LESLEY probably for the rest of my life,
'cause what this be the stupid thing to catch on,

and I even have training in being a Complete Dick.....

And I'm here to tell you all....

Don't give up.

There are people out there not worth even half of what you are.
You know it too.

This is a world full of wonderful people, and horrible people.

Well obviously the answer is 'hooray for the wonderful people',
and 'to hell with the horrible ones'.

Anybody knows that.

Telling 'em apart, that's the tricky bit isn't it.

It ain't over till it's over, so feel not futile,
and don't go drinking potions clearly labeled,

"Warning, don't drink, turns you into a fly you big dumb fuck".

You kinda gotta learn, like, the same lesson, over, and over, and over again heh.

oh...

you didn't drink the potion that makes you feel small like a fly buzzing around
a horse's butt.

you drank the potion that makes you have that 'oh fuck it' feeling.

When you could have had Relief,

with just two tablets of Percomups.

Right away, our powerful medicine goes right to the source! Your Brain.

Brain Cells do get eaten, oh pretty fast.
But the difference is remarkable.

You find yourself calling old friends, and actually being glad to hear from them.

Percomups.

Look like you Give A Fuck.

@Scott ~ Don't be concerned with being validated by social media. That universe is controlled by the very forces that you are attacking in your song. This site is a testament to your efforts to spread the word that the golden age of music must be preserved and that the people making this music must be rewarded and celebrated. That is a tremendous accomplishment on your part of which you should be proud.

People have said it would be a futile gesture to create a site like this and keep it going even when it was lying almost dead in the gutter, you and others resurrected it and made it what it is today. Your efforts were not in vain. To believe that one's efforts to do something are futile is a self fulfilling prophecy. Negative thinking brings negative results.

Writing and recording songs is a labor of love. One has to be born with the instinct to do such a thing. Who would choose such a frustrating and difficult task on purpose? It's a thankless act but it's something that carries it's own rewards. It's a calling and we as artists choose to answer the call because that's who we are we can't be anybody else. The only thing that is futile is lamenting about futility.

You only have to prove yourself to yourself. All those benchmarks that we crave are false gods that we don't have to worship. Is a great actor any less great if he or she doesn't win an oscar? You can't measure what you've done by whether or not it goes viral. Look at all the garbage that does go viral. Going viral doesn't prove a thing.

You've made it clear that you think your work is great. I admire that! But it also shows that you have satisfied certain criteria that you have for measuring greatness. You didn't fail. You succeeded on your own terms without selling out. That's a great achievement! And if one song doesn't catch fire for some reason - you can always write more songs until you get what you want.

"Futility" is a very problematic word often linked with depression and hopelessness.
As long as you're alive there is hope. Don't go down the rabbit hole of futility. It's very hard to get out of. I know this from experience. I changed my life by changing my mind. Anyone can do it. Positive thinking brings positive results - not all of the results you may seek but at least you will conquer the demon of futility. If you truly believe your efforts will fail, then why waste time on those goals? If you lose hope, you lose everything and hope can only be sustained through perseverance and never giving up. Look at Stoneman and what he's been through and yet he keeps on fighting the good fight. I didn't go through what he went through but my life has not been a bed of roses either. Still I keep on keepin' on, 'cause what's the alternative? I may not ever get recognized for my music the way I think I should but that's not going to keep me from enjoying the hell out of creating it. Of course I want people to like what I do but in the end the only "like" that truly matters is my own.

All you guys are way to young to plead futility.

I can tell you about futility, but I won't. If I start doing that, ban me.

Thanks Richard, that was encouraging. Actually the next day I started thinking positively again. There sure are a lot of negative forces online, especially if one openly believes in themselves.

Well, I listened to both your rants this day. This one, and the other one
that got you banned from a bunch of morons who don't deserve your company
to bloody begin with.

Thanks for mentioning me by the way. Very much appreciated.
