I think it sounds beautiful and evokes the kind of sound that was on Lennon/Ono's
Starting Over CD. It's so nuanced and subtle and doesn't bang one over the head with a bombastic "wall of sound" production. It's very tasteful and complete in every way. The production and the song suit the angelic quality of the lovely vocals (which are right on pitch, in my opinion) If I had my way (and I certainly don't) I would ease up a little on the slap-back echo and the excessive reverb on the vocals. The singer's voice is so excellent, it really doesn't need that much enhancement. I think it distracts a little from the purity and essence of the vocal especially when it delays a little in spots on the right side of the headphone. But all that wonky producer stuff aside, this is a well produced well sung track with very good lyrics and vocals. I love the interplay between the nylon string guitar and the piano. They mesh very well.
Kudos to all involved with the instrumentation, writing, singing and production.

Richard, did you re-listen to her song recently?
She re-uploaded a better mix with less reverb and no echo.

Wow! The mix is SO much better. The strings are more prominent now and they really add a lot. The vocals sound a million times clearer and more understandable.
Fantastic improvement. It's so nice to see artists and producers taking constructive advice without becoming angry or defensive. Keep up the good work!

Yes, the new mix is better, and she sounds Great! :-)
And as for critics, Yes, that's how it should be,
that's why it's called Constructive Criticism and should be given in a civilized
and tactful way. No need for insults or nitpicking at the flaws.
And, in my opinion, if one needs to bring to the attention of errors, at least be able to offer suggestions on how to fix it, again, in a tactful way. And perhaps in a private message so that the original post thread don't get filled with people arguing on and on needlessly.

And Richard, that comparison to "Starting Over",
Wow! That means a lot! To be compared to a now Classic song!
It's a sign Francesca is heading in the right direction and things will only get bigger for her in a matter of time! :-)

Your style reminds me of Kate Bush. Probably not a lot of people know who she is though but yes it's a compliment.

Steve! You are right!
That's who I was trying to figure out when I posted a recent comment that to me she sounds a bit like Enya, and a bit like someone else I couldn't think of at the time. Now I hear it clearly! Francesca is in great company! :-)

Jay said: "And Richard, that comparison to "Starting Over",

I also meant that Ms. Tambellini's song evoked the whole spirit of that album, not just the title track: Starting Over. I hear shades of the Mind Games album as well.
Lennon and Ono were obsessed with the truth and being authentic and that's what comes across here. They weren't afraid to show their sensitivity and vulnerability by highlighting both the agony and the ecstasy of true love. All of Ms Tambellini's songs seem to be cut from that cloth and the purity and authenticity of it is a joy to behold. Thank you, Jay for lending her a helping a hand. Talent like that needs to be nurtured for it to grow and evolve as I'm sure it will. She's certainly a diamond in the rough who will get more and more polished with each new endeavor.
Please tell me how this collaboration worked. Did she send you a track of her playing and singing and you added more instruments? Do you act as just producer or co-writer as well? Did you exchange wav files through those special websites for that purpose? Any details would be greatly appreciated. We know that some of these long distance collaborations don't always work out and I think it would be very helpful to many of us to hear why your situation worked out as well as it did. Please share!

Thanks for those kind and encouraging words Richard!
I am tempted to print out a screenshot of it and frame it!
Yes, Francesca writes and sings with a raw emotion, you can tell it comes
straight from her heart, and I can relate.
That's why when she first appeared onto the IMP scene, I felt her voice and words deep inside me, and I knew if I can help her in any way, she will continue to grow
as an artist and shine like the diamond star she is destined to be!
The process in which we worked with was basically simple.
I placed a comment and a demo version in the Review Board
and asked if anyone would be willing to sing a song I had written lately.
She volunteered and I was glad she did.
Knowing her styling, I removed the drums, bass and electric guitar,
and just sent her a copy with the acoustic sounds, as you hear now.
I had also sent the demo so she can follow.
When she was done, she sent me a wav file with her vocals, to which I then added reverb and double-tracked the choruses. The first version I noticed I was a bit heavy on the reverb, as others also pointed out. I think I did not hear it properly on my monitor, but I did hear it once song was online and I then remixed it and sent to her to re-upload it and it sounds much better now as you also pointed out.
Hopefully Francesca and I will work together again on other songs. I had sent her an instrumental track to which she will write lyrics to and sing, so hopefully we will all hear more new songs from this rising star ! :-)

I listened to this today it was quite good. I thought the strings were a little far back but I think it was intentional to highlight the vocal and piano.
The strings in the back did give it a king of whispering haunting effect like the strings were echoing from a memory which did give an emotional feeling.
I think this was great work but both of you and I enjoyed this version.

Ken

Thank you Richard and Ken!
Yes Ken, strings were just for underlying purpose in the background. Subtlety.
Yes Richard, I had sent her vocal demo version to follow.
She gave it a more emotional, yearning feel to it
while my version was more straight ahead.
