First success
Hi. I have been away from IMP for a while, banging on doors and trying to get accepted. I think now that I have my foot close to the bottom rung on a slippery ladder. For the first time someone has given me a modest advance rather than trying to talk me into buying something.
It is modest, but perfectly timed as I was losing heart.
I have to say that I was encouraged to push out a bit by people here - Eve, Scott, the wonderfully batty American Lesley Jane, Jason Dyall and all the station managers.
This is sounding like an award acceptance speech. A bit pathetic for someone looking at their first contract I know, but I don't want any of you to feel that I am not grateful. I will still post music here, but perhaps be less visible. Thank you.

Yes, PS,
The one and only wonderful whacky
(I prefer whacky to batty if you don't mind, Dear)
me, has this to say,
I'm absolutely enthusiastically happy you have a break going,
what I want to say is, don't let up, keep pushing,
keep striving, because, you really can make it, I'm sure of it.
I mean make it pretty darn big, like most of us can only dream of.
Go for it, Francesca. You got what it takes.
And this is a young person's game,
almost nobody my age makes it, ever. But you, you can!

PS...
Two key factors, to keep in mind.
1. Enthusiasm.
Why does the world even need Artists?
Well because they're bloody idiots, of course, and by now
half the time don't know how to think forget about what to think,
and they spend so much time 'burying it all way down deep'
that they don't even know how to feel let alone what they feel.
That's why the world needs Artists. Artists, are the Demonstration Floor Model,
so to speak. So, it follows suit, the more enthusiastic that you are, about what you do, and mainly I mean, always be enthusiastic about your work, you can work
in varying degrees of enthusiasm into your general speech,
if you don't mind when someone calls you whacky, batty's pushing it,
but I'll accept whacky, as who would I be fooling anyway.
2. Momentum.
Enough enthusiasm, and you may actually strike a fire going.
This would not be the time to run out of kindling or larger wood if you know any.
Or have any. What that means. That means, how many times, has someone made it, only to have it all go fizzle out, 'cause they didn't have the inventory
of product, either at the ready, or weren't able to crank it out as necessary
once it becomes necessary. Look. I'm gonna say 'em again.
Think I said it before. If not, then I am passing the baton.
Lesley Gore, (It's My Party, and I'll cry if I want to, unt she did)
told me "Lesley Jane, (as I was not called then) it's not enough to be good,
when you could be Great." I said 'well thanks for saying I'm good at least, love'.
(not what I actually said)
Well, Seriously....
Be One Of The Greats.
("but, but, but, I'm, I'm insecure.... )
Who isn't.
("but, but, but, I, I don't know if I can do it...")
Sure you can.
You put one note in front of the other. Coffee helps. Brew a pot. There's a
studious young genius destined to work her ass off till she gets it right.
You wanna know the bloody Big Grand Poobah Secret.
Okay. Listen carefully. I'll tell you how I'm doing it.
I Am This.
not I'm gonna be this, wanna be this. Screw that.
I Am This.
That's what I'm up to now.
Even though no one my age gets breaks,
I've decided, if I don't get breaks,
I'll break things meself.
Starting with, all the damned records in a row.
Oh, I'm out to not just be great, but be the goddamned f-ing Best of 'em all.
I Am That Way.
You get it yet?
Decide to be it, then be it.
And that won't just happen. I'm older than dirt, and I know it.
You're young as the proverbial spring chicken, and you probably know it.
Taylor Swift wants to be Katy Perry. So does Katy Perry,
but she doesn't really know what that means either.
They both make the same mistake.
They're chasing the fame, to play the game.
Instead of being the fame 'cause they have the game. You follow this?
Or not. If not, read it again, I suppose. Work. Lots of it. All the time.
You wanna be this? YOU CAN! By being the one who doesn't slack off.
