new song
I've just put up a new song (The Crown). It is quite short and I am thinking of it a s a closing track on an album. What do you think?

Some of the best early Beatle songs were around 2 minutes long and it's to their credit that they could say so much in such a short amount of time. Your song is not too short to put on a CD because it gets the concept across and doesn't suffer because of brevity.

Yeah, Beatle songs are so damned short I sometimes play through them twice with a nice, long instrumental jam in the middle! lol

I Want to Hold Your Hand, 2:27
This Boy, 2:13
It Won’t Be Long, 2:14
All I've Got to Do, 2:04
All My Loving, 2:09
Little Child, 1:48
I Wanna Be Your Man, 2:01
Not a Second Time 2:07
And they all had 2 bridges!

Sure, but they were all 50 years ago. A bit has happened since then.

Just realised that this won't be troubling the IMP charts! Points are scored for the length it is played and it isn't long enough!

Well it made the Kayak Big 25 anyway.

I don't think your song is too short for charting, Francesca. Three of the five songs on my page are well under three minutes.

I realize "a bit has happened since then" but the point I was making was that a good song is a good song regardless of the length or the year is was written. That's a fact that hasn't changed. I was trying to be supportive.

The Beatles were masters of the traditional AABA song structure. They just cut out the endless soloing from the big band days.

I had a song on stingray music (formerly CBC Galaxie) entitled with you, 2 minutes 9 seconds. that was it, it was on rotation for 6 years there. did nicely for royalties still is on Cable and Satellite , so sometimes stations pick the song up for its quality and length as they make it work for their play listings.

Richard, I appreciate your support - really. Sorry if it didn't come out that way.
