Publishing Question
Hi all, can I ask your opinions? I have been using tune core to put stuff on spotify. It's all fine and I am happy with the results, but they keep pushing their publishing services at me. I don't have any sort of music publishing deal, but I am fully registered on PRS (UK equivalent of BMI). Should I use tune core's (or anyone else's) publishing services? Am I missing out on something?

Hi Francesca,
I belong to BMI but have gotten very little money from them.
I register my songs with CD Baby Pro Publishing which is worldwide and have gotten some money paid to me via paypal. CD Baby will also do sync for games, tiktok, tv, movies, etc. They pay out in increments of $25. It's not much but it pays for strings and an ad or two.
My genre of jazz instrumentals is very hard to get listeners. It's a very tight group.
But hang in there, you've got great talent and a good sense of songwrting.
Cheers,
Duane

Francesca Stay away from Cdbaby pro publishing and or tunecore so called publishing deals as they snag a fair portion of your income stick with what you got and wait for someone to help do your own self publishing of your music in sheet music and or perhaps a record deal, if and when it comes to getting even more traction and results come even more hire a music lawyer. but that I would investigate and read up and get familiar with how the system works.
by the way, great to see your results on youtube, amazing fanbase and spotify followers and listeners.
you have all the whole package in lyric songcrafting and your vocals are incredible
cheers
best wishes

so Francesca, perhaps Stoneman, and or others who have had songs published and or scored record deals may have more insight on this question Francesca.
My experience and background has been helping artists getting recognized and picked up on radio , although that was starting about 20 years ago, in the past that was easier then it is now , about the last 7 or so years it has become a lot more challenging.
Streaming seems to be the king now. in its various forms. Yet if one can get a song picked up the pay per play is decent. Not so much with the Streaming services, although some of us get some coin from that, as well as royalties from our own country representatives who collect monies on our behalf from various agencies such as radio, licensing deals, jingles, movies, etc and send us cheques or direct deposit in your bank every 3 months, SOCAN does that for me and others in Canada, your country who does the collection from places that play or use the music you worte have done the song, and you already have insight to this ,so hopefully you can seek out more ways to increase your income there getting your music happening
all the best,'
