Fairly new to this whole thing
Hey guys I'm Craig and I write and arrange all the music and lyrics for my band Huskerveil, I was wondering if anyone would want to check out the new song I just uploaded called one by one and tell me what you think, it's not my usual writing style as it's quite slow in the beginning, I normally write songs that jump out at you from the start so this is different for me and just wondered what people thought.. Hope your all well
Craig

hi Craig, so that new song is an amazing piece of work, great songcrafting and such an amazing storyline and believable lyrical content. Immediately drew me into the song as it builds. unfolds wonderful.Very powerful, stellar vocals and instrumentation and production. i added it to my eYe station. if you are able in the future to put a link to your artist page or the page where the song lives with a link to it that be very helpful for quick reference.

One by One

well done

cheers

Wow,,, thank you so much for your amazing comments, I guess when you say the lyrics are believable it's because it's written about me and how low and broken I was before I met my wife, and piece by piece she put me back together again, so it's very from the heart my friend, I took it to band rehearsals saying I wrote this yesterday, expecting everyone to laugh at it but instead they just picked up their instruments and played, and that's what came out, obviously there was some tweaking to be done and before we hit the studio I knew something was missing,,, it was keyboards,, as soon as I got a keyboard player involved it was the last piece of the puzzle, I guess I'm worried about putting it out there because of how personal it is and hearing or reading your review of it has made my day thank you so much

I thought it was about someone you knew or yourself, there was nothing contrived at all about this whole song, the music, the feeling the lyrics and it had an almost comforting quality to it, a resolution of sorts ,truly was an experiential thing you went through. Glad you shared it with us, and thanks for following up, your songcrafting and muscianship is top drawer. amazing stuff Craig, well done

Hey Craig,

The harmonies are really great and I really dig the guitar from beginning to end. I don't know how you will feel about this comment but it almost has a skillet type worship music type feel.

Sometime I write form person experiences like this one other times the words just fall to the page. From the audience it seems those that are more personal reach more people.

I think that you captured a magic moment you know those moments in studio where it all falls together and you kind of sit back and say whoa was that us?

The song has good feeling and I like the way that it builds and gets stronger as the song goes on its kind of fitting with the lyrics as you pick up the pieces in your life and put yourself back together you get stronger and the song goes along with you.

I hope to hear more of your work that has this much feeling because it stands out above the crowd.

Two Silo Complex,
Ken

Hi Ken ,, again wow, thank you for your amazing comments but you hit the nail on the head, we all played really well in the studio and your right, we sat back at the end of recording and listened and for a moment afterwards we all just looked at each other in silence, and a little tear,y eyed , and said wow,,,, did we just record that, as I said above I was a little scared of putting this out there because of how personal it is but I never ever expected comments like this, never in my wildest dreams would I expect someone to say one of the best songs this year or stands above the crowd, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart

Welcome to IMP and congrats on a great tune. I can relate to what you say about it being tough to put something so personal out in plain sight - takes courage. It sure worked here, though - great vocals (lead and harmonies) too.

Hi, thanks again about the lovely comments, I'm a bit taken back by it all really, out of all the songs I've done this is the one I'm least confident about and was in two minds about putting it up on here for fear of being ridiculed,, but it's being received with great comments so thank you all,,, by the way,, someone messaged me asking why I have a picture of Dave grohl as my icon picture,,, I don't haha that truely is me,,, I just happen to look like him ????????????

Hey,, wow, thank you so much, I really didn't expect people to like it, I thought maybe it was to slow and a long while till it really kicked in, I imagined people listening for the first 10 seconds and turning off again, thank you so much

The other thing that concerned me about the song one by one was the structure,,, it doesn't follow any conventional pattern, IE verse, verse , chorus , verse , chorus or whatever, it's kind of, verse,, chorus with a quick simple lead break,, but I honestly didn't know how else to write it, it just kinda popped in my head while playing an acoustic guitar,, took it to practice the next night, told my rhythm guitar player the progression, the rest of the band just joined in as I was trying to get the lead guitar parts out of my head, what you hear on the track is pretty much what happened the first time we played it as a band,, just a bit more polished , never in my wildest imagination did I think people would like it ????
