Yoko Ono
Was just reading the rock quote for today on IMP an it dawned on me that I've never had an opinion about her.
What is it with the the big put down about her to this day?

Some folks think she broke up the Beatles which for me is simply not true. The seeds of the the group's break up were planted long before she came along. Perhaps her entrance upon the scene hastened the dissolution of the band somewhat but that wasn't her fault. She was the love of John's life. For John and Yoko their love was bigger than the Beatles. In the end, the fans don't own the bands they follow. Their hatred of Yoko may have marked the premature birth of the cancel culture.

Norm-
According to Dictionary.com, “Cancel culture refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive. [It's] generally discussed as being performed on social media in the form of group shaming.”
The whole thing has gotten pretty mob-ish and out of control in some ways -
But Richard, so true about Yoko! I think she was sort of victimized. I always wondered if it wasn't sort of racist in a way - the whole Dragon Lady stereo type ...

I for one have always hated Yoko and believe she did her part in destroying the Beatles. She pursued all 4 of them before getting her hooks in John. According to Goldman's book she gave John heroin passing it off as cold medicine. The book by John's houseboy Frederic Seaman sheds deep light on the twisted relationship.

Sometimes people just have to have someone to blame for shit. She happened to be the one they picked and though it isn't fair they do it anyway. Odds are that they would have been broken up whether she was there or not. Bands break up, its a people thing that happens. I have been in a lot of bands that broke up. The reasons are numerous.
