The Issue: The Media, The Public, and the Politics of War
As we wage a war for freedom throughout the world, we must be careful not to overlook the war for freedom of speech going on right here at home. Under one of the most secretive administrations possible under our constitution, we have become ingulfed in a world of he said she said bickering, lies, scandal, controversy, mis-management of crisis, avoidable natural disasters, errors by fema, CIA leaks, and a president who denies he met someone he has taken pictures with . Hunting accidents have dominated the headlines while our soldiers fight a war based on faulty intelligence and strategic oil reserves. We have let ourselves lower the bar as to what we expect from our leaders. Conservitives elected a president who can't handle pressure, and our goverment continues to operate without our best interest in mind. We have become used to ridiculous gas prices, we absorb lie after lie from the white house press secretary. Imagine a job where your duty is to lie and cover up the administrations messes, and to exagerrate their merit when everyone knows youre full of it. This doesn't help anyone. Not to mention, we have a hardline goverment in the mid-east that is threatening the stability of the world. We need our leaders to step up and bring the world together to handle this threat. I wonder, how are these cronnies running our goverment going to get a region of the world to adopt our democratic ideals, when those very ideals are being compromised on a daily basis here at home. We have two distinct wings of the media, as well as two bitter sides in Washington, and our administration can't even conduct interviews with certain news networks because they won't ask them easy, hand-fed questions. This is all very disturbing, since my last blog freedom has taken a major hit. The president is treading a fine line with his warrantless wire tapping of americans. It is unbelievable that he can't make a call and follow the laws of the USA. No other American can break the law, why can he, especially when he is supposed to be Mr. Freedom. Let's get real, we are dealing with Karl Rove's puppet, not the man inside. I think the president means well, but those around him have molded an arrogant, easily rattled leader. We need W to step up and get this country back on track. We need to step up ourselves when it comes to defending our ideas, especially when we are facing an enemy who is looking for any way possible to rattle America. Let's unite and get this country headed in a positive direction.
Much peace and love to all, and don't forget about those fighting abroad, whether you support the cause or no, they need your backing and prayers.
till next time,
