Are Internet forums dying ?
I like forums, but are they relevant (or necessary} since social media sites went viral ?
Now people scroll through stuff as quickly as they can, on their mobiles, wherever they happen to be.
Apparently the forums that still thrive are on special interest sites, places where people can share or learn together.
Now, IMP is a special interest site, the common interest is Music but that doesn't mean people want to read or write about it on forums. Do you prefer to "Talk in songs" ?
What topics, features or threads would tempt you to post here on The Pipeline....
More music chat, more sharing info, more collaborative stuff, more challenges, competitions, quizzes, interviews... or none of the above ?

You do great topics, Verity, you should do more. :D
Some forums are very active, depends on the people that hang out there. I belong to a very busy home recording site, though I have to admit, without me there it would be far less so. I know of this audiophile forum which is super busy as well.
Forums are just another way to talk, they aren't as important as they once were due to X and Facebook, but they don't necessarily have to be relevant as long as they're made up of people who want to/like to interact.

Now, I cannot speak on all forums but i can speak on this one.I think there is something special about being able to go to a website with like minded or gifted people and connect via a forum. For instance, I know that when I come here i am going to find other musicians speaking on mostly artistic matters. Sure I connect with people on social media also but I consider this place to be a part of my daily social media activities on the internet. In that sense. for me personally, forums are necessary and a part of my regular activities. Respect, Stoneman
