How far do you want to go ?
When we start out we probably all have aspirations to make lots of money and become a recognized name in the music business.

Some of us start out as average or limited musicians and maybe we want to improve and extend our skills. One or two of us will find success, fame and fortune but this is almost a fluke of 'right time, right place, right connections'

However there comes a point when decisions or realizations kick in -

Some people give up and drop out, take up another hobby perhaps -

Some of us accept our limitations and carry on for the pleasure and satisfaction of getting a few fans and producing lots of songs

Some concentrate on the part of music making that they feel they're best at... could be the writing and lyrics, could be one particular instrument that we like to master - maybe we find listening and reviewing is a talent -

A percentage of us will team up with others to form bigger better bands or collaborations.

So do you have any desire to move forward, upwards and onward or have you reached as far as you want to go ?

I started off in my early teens with aspirations of being the next best thing since sliced bread. Any spare time was practicing and learning new stuff. Plenty of garage bands and high school parties. Having a family gave me time to write my own material and learn new instruments.

Home computers, cell phones, and modems changed everything. Now anybody can make or build songs especially with AI. A lot of those people will come and go when they realize how flooded the music industry is and the difficulty it takes to be a "known" artist. Not mention the scammers and shysters.

At 67, I'm happy to just collaborate with some of the best musicians I know. 15 years with Bryon Tosoff, 6 years with Paul Wainwright, plus a handful of others here at IAC/IMP and previous bandmates. You can't replicate the emotional and heartfelt music with years of knowledge and experience.

Great topic!

I'm 52 and have been writing and recording music since 1984. I honestly feel I am at the point in my life now where I am at my peak as a musician, sound engineer and songwriter. I've created opportunities to work with some very successful artists and being around such people creates a paradigm shift in consciousness. It is beautiful!! They are real people just like us who have taken hold of their lives and created their own realities.

We are living in unprecedented times and many are starting to awaken to their true capabilities beyond our five physical senses. Many are aware of the unsustainability of the global corporations, governments, "authorities" and such and the way their activities are destroying the planet, draining us of our life energy through feeding the population with massive fear and propaganda campaigns.

I'm witnessing a beautiful awakening happening in the hearts and minds of many who are detaching themselves from this insane system of control and manipulation and regaining their freedoms, sovereignty, joy and peace. We are all hungry for community interaction, creativity, artistic expression and a return to being at one with each other and our world.

The time is ripe for those of us who are expressing all this through our art and music. We have a golden opportunity to use our skills, talents, creativity and our higher senses to help motivate and inspire those who are just starting to awaken. There's unfathomable beauty all around us once we separate ourselves from the illusion. It really is like the Matrix and there are many Neo's (how's that for a conundrum!)

I'm honestly really excited about all this. We are the ones who can change the world and it starts with our own awakenings. This is what the new Pulse Eternal album I'm currently writing and recording is all about and it is why I'm calling it, "Diary of Perception."
Our reality is a product of our perception.

We have incredible technology at our fingertips and in our recording studios these days that gives us the tools to produce top quality, world class recordings and I'm making the most of it!

Honestly, once we awaken to our true capabilities, we see others not as competition but as inspiration and we can achieve anything we want!

I've honestly never been more positive and enthusiastic about music and I want to inspire others to grab hold of their dreams and make them reality. Success begins with a mindset and an unshakeable and enthusiastic vision. Making it happen is simply a matter of turning energy into physical reality. You WILL attract around you those of like mind.

This is our time to shine!!

Two lovely responses, and quite different really. Lots to digest and consider, Making music, writing down thoughts is not always a lightweight thing, it can bring people together, inspire them and entertain them - it can really make a difference, internally and externally, thank you :)

How lucky we are to have such passionate, articulate folk at IMP

I still do it because i would rather listen to music than listen and watch to the rubbish they put on TV. Occasionally i make something special then it is defo worth it. I am still up for a collab if anyone fancies it

I used to want to "make it." Now, I just want to make it to the bathroom and back to my bed in the morning by myself.

Oh dear, it's taken a slightly cynical (but amusing) turn now
