Bright One
Two years ago, a kindergarten teacher and mother of four in a small Inuit community in Nunavik, lost her life to domestic violence. She was my colleague and an inspiration as a teacher and musician. This song is written for her and for all those who knew her bright light.
- Maranda Jean Cook-Schulze
This is a non album single released on May 5th, which is recognized in Canada as Red Dress Day to honour missing and murdered indigenous women.

Definitely appreciate the sentiment on this one, and the guitarwork is quite nice. I will say that for me the vocal delivery seems a bit messy, at least timing wise, and a bit difficult to understand without reading along. I realize that may be at least partially just a matter of accents, and/or a smooth flow may not be what you were going for, but it kind of got a little distracting to me. Still, it was an interesting listen, and a fitting lyric for the day!

Thank you for the feedback and for giving the song a listen CTWitt. It is true that the song doesn't have a consistent vocal rhythm, but it is a case where the actual words and the significance behind them were most important.

Lake Roads, Doesn't pull any punches with some difficult subject matter. Isn't it strange how just one event can stick with you like that and perhaps change your outlook in many aspects?
Impact full done with the tact and musicianship that can bring a tale like this to life. Without beating you over the head with it.
Lake Roads knows no bounds and invites you to do the same. Be the change you want to see, if you don't who will?
